Isn’t everyone supposed to like their Christmas gifts?

*This story is underneath my folder titled “Jester and fairy”. Gacha Club character designs are under this forum: https://www.youngwriterssociety.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=116005&start=1005. Enjoy and Scary Creepmas!*

Ysabelle tore through the wrapping paper, joy circulating through her at the prospect of something new, something different…

It was a sapphire bracelet, sparkling brightly from the light of the chandelier, hurting Ysabelle’s skin.

She looked up at Mom and Dad, who were smiling down at her. Santa always got her one thing and it was the same: Jewelry. Nothing but jewelry. Mom and Dad would buy her clothes, hair pins, socks, undergarments, and shoes, but Santa got her jewelry.

“How come I never get any toys?” Ysabelle asked, trying her best not to sound ungrateful or rude.

Mom and Dad exchanged looks as though that was the most ridiculous thing Ysabelle said, then Dad said:

“You don’t need toys. They’re childish. Santa knows how wonderful you are so he gets you jewelry instead of toys.”

Wonderful? But she didn’t have any friends to talk to in her room!

“But I want to play with somebody!” Ysabelle cried out.

Mom sat next to her on the couch and wrapped her arm around Ysabelle. Ysabelle would have found it comforting if it weren’t for the fact that she felt like her parents weren’t listening to her.

“You have your cousins. You should play with them. A beautiful girl like you doesn’t need dolls. You need to play with other kids and have jewelry. Lots and lots of jewelry so the world can know how beautiful you really are!” Mom beamed.

As quickly as she did it, Mom let go of Ysabelle and walked off with Dad to the kitchen. The servants would get up soon and then they would make the table nice for breakfast.

The servants were around more than her parents.

I’ll be going through this folder then I guess XD For Violet Victory!

Kix is still the clone for me. Jester clone now I guess instead of a medic…

Wait why does the light hurt Ysabelle’s skin O_O
Do we get a reason now why the parents only give her jewelry and what they expect from her, finally? XD
Ah well… I can see why the parents are the way they are. Still a very disappointing revelation for poor Ysabelle. At least she get one hug, even if it wasn’t very comforting.

And wow that last line really is indicative of her upbringing huh ☹

Yes, you are right about that last sentence. The bracelet hurts her skin because it%u2019s tight, but I see where you%u2019d be confused.

Thx for reading!

I feel like this short story at least deserves more. Like a little short chapter book would be fantastic. Ysabelle sounds to me like, the daughter of a rich family who really doesn't take the time to really be with their daughter. That is kind of sad, since considering that rich kids are spoiled, and that they're happy, but we really don't know what goes on behind closed doors.

I don't know how old Ysabelle is, probably like a 10-year-old if I'm guessing, and all her parents do is give her jewelry. Like, why would a kid want a bracelet? I mean, of course you would think they want toys, or a doll.

“You don’t need toys. They’re childish. Santa knows how wonderful you are so he gets you jewelry instead of toys.”

SHE'S A KID! KIDS LIKE TOYS, BECAUSE THEY ARE CHILDREN.

Overall, you successfully made a story that made me sorta angry (at the parents) but good job!
