An Artist and His Brush

Hello:) This is my first poem entry. I've always been using it's message as a saying, so I thought I would try to create a poem out of it. Tell me what you think!

---
The Artist and His brush

I am a tool who’s guided by
An Artist’s genius Hand
Together we’ll touch many hearts
Alone I cannot stand

I stroke against the canvas wall
His colors splash the white
Valuable and beautiful
Reflections of the Light

If bristles were to split their ways
I would not be of use
He needs my flexibility
Open but not obtuse

My work is done
The water runs
To rinse me of my past
To be reused
For different hues
The old ones cannot last
And if I sit in violet grit
The future will rewind
I look ahead
Renewed instead
To bigger, greater lines

Now I must glide, and dot, and dab
No motion means no masterpiece
The world has many million brushes
But I am blessed for He chose me

I am a tool who’s guided by
An Artist’s genius Hand
Together we’ll touch many hearts
Alone I cannot stand

This is a really great poem.

Your imagery is really great and you have a great rhyme scheme (I can't ryhme for my life so, congrats on being able to). Your flow is really great and the only problems I saw with it is that there's no punctuation at the end of each line.
Of course, you don't need punctuation at the end of every line but you still need it at the end of most of them. So, go through and add all the punctuation (like KatTrain has done for you) and then you'll have an awesome poem!
Wonderful job :D

Keep writing,
Alzora

Great job! my favorite part was:

My work is done
The water runs
To rinse me of my past
To be reused
For different hues
The old ones cannot last
And if I sit in violet grit
The future will rewind
I look ahead
Renewed instead
To bigger, greater lines

I felt the depth in the words, love it. Keep Writing!

This is a great metaphor! I'm assuming that God is the artist and He does His work through you. I love that! I also assume that you're fairly new, so... welcome, and good poem! If you have any questions, PM me (or anyone else, really). I've only been on for a few weeks, but it's addicting and I'd like to think I know at least a lot of what one needs to know. :) Anyway, good work!

Wow, I loved this poem! The flow and serene tone to it was beautiful. Each line flowed perfectly into the next. I also really liked your title, and that is what drew me in.
I just have one question about your poem, did you mean to capitalize some words in your poem? I wasn't sure if they were supposed to be a metaphor for something else or not. If not, you could always just leave them, but I think it would be best if you didn't capitalize them. If you are wondering what I am talking about here is an example:

An Artist’s genius Hand
and then
Reflections of the Light

The only stanza in this poem that I was not too crazy about was this one:
Now I must glide, and dot, and dab
No motion means no masterpiece
The world has many million brushes
But I am blessed for He chose me
The stanza itself is not bad, I just don't think it fits in the poem. Well, I mean the way it is written at least. The flow seems different here and the lines are longer. It just looked out of place to me. I would suggest rephrasing this stanza or possibly just removing it.

Overall, I loved this piece. You are definetly at talented writer, and so I'm going to follow you and "like" this piece! I would love to read more of your work :)

Thank you KatTrain! I've never been so excited about slashes and corrections in my writing before:) I guess it's because other people are actually taking the time to read my work, and give constructive criticism, so I really appreciate that.

Thanks Amelia:) I'm really glad you liked it. I never knew I wrote Enjambment poems until now. I rarely use punctuation in any of my poems because I'm so used to writing lyrics.

Hey! I presume you're new here so WELCOME! If you need anything, don't hesitate to PM me or leave a comment on my wall. I just wanted to drop you a quick line ( I haven't time for a full review right now!) and let you know how much I enjoyed this poem. There were no grammar issues to speak of, and this piece was paced and had a lovely mood. I personally don't 'get-it' when other YWSers go one about grammar in poems like it's the law of poetry: you MUST put periods and comma ect. A poem doesn't have to have punctuation. It just gives the impression that, like life, the poem continually flows until it's completion. Whether it was your intention to omit punctuation or not, I think it makes the poem feel nice and simple. It's called an Enjamberment, when a poem has little or no punctuation, for everyone who thinks I'm mad. It has an official name! lol. Well, enjoy yourself here! Keep up the great work! I'll follow you and Like this piece...could you follow me please?

The Artist and His brush
Just want to state that right from the get-go, I liked the title

I am a tool who’s guided by
An Artist’s genius Hand. period here
Together we’ll touch many hearts
but Alone I cannot stand period

I stroke against the canvas wall , comma
His my colors splash the white
Valuable and beautiful
Reflections of the Light this 'light' is capitalized, This is interesting. Do you mean the 'light' is God? Or inspiration? Good imagery, by the way.

If mybristles were to split their ways, comma
I would not be of no use, comma
He needs my flexibility, comma
Open but not obtuse. period. I love this last line!

My work is done, comma
The water runs, comma
To rinse me of my past, comma. The way you're using personification is just lovely. The inanimate paintbruch really comes alive with your descriptions
To be reused, comma
For different hues comma
The old ones cannot last. period
(spacing for new stanza)
Andif I sit, comma in violet grit, comma
The future will rewind
I look ahead, comma
Renewed instead
To bigger, greater lines. period

Now I must glide, and dot, and dab
No motion means no masterpiece
The world has many a million brushes
But I am blessed for He chose me. period

I am a tool who’s guided by
An Artist’s genius Hand is hand supposed to be capitalized?
Together we’ll touch many hearts
forAlone I cannot stand. period.

Great work:] **likes** if you have any more poems you'd like me to review, I'd be happy to have them!
