Fallen or Forgotten

A fallen star

From the absurd velvety blue sky

Landed shyly upon my unsuspecting eyes.

I’ve been told,

And I believe,

Countless unavailing and forgettable stories

That soar from a base forged with miracles.

However,

The concept of a miracle seems in-conceptually flawed.

Put aside your restless theology,

For I believe something inherently benevolent just occurred.

Is it so necessary to assign the blame?

We ought to stretch our lips and show our teeth once and a while.

Just how far will they take their cogent ignorance?

And potent unhappiness?

And their hyperboles of wrongdoing?

Is this a communist attack on our most astronomical,

Most fantastic,

Most realistic thoughts?

And I suppose a thought is shown no gentile mercy,

Just the introspective examination of a curious and analytical mind,

But a thought deserves to be thunk up all the same.

We may not love,

We may not hug,

And we may not kiss,

Without this indiscernible hand guiding us into the so-called light.

As a realist I must disagree,

Because my thoughts will guide me,

Into my light and who cares what else?

Oh,

What a smile would bequeath to me...

Just the curled back lips and light, abundant eyes...

Just the pursuit of unadulterated joy...

But that star,

That poor, un accompanied star,

Just to let you know,

I never found it.

It’s illumination burnt away,

Fragile in it’s passion for simplicity.

My time to admire it was gone,

Amidst my swirling thoughts.

I just let my time be capricious,

Because possession is constructed on a border

That may possibly be barbed with greed and impertinence.

The best part is,

I didn’t even misspeak.

Beautiful! Really beautiful poem. The thought behind it is great, and, most importantly, you have expressed it very nicely. The words are simple, yet speak volumes. Just like IronStylus, I too thought it would rhyme. But you pleasantly surprised me with a free verse! Keep up the great work! :)

ok..I have no idea how the review showed up thrice! I am really sorry for it, though :(

Great playing with words cj--- im not really the technical type but I could say that your master piece is smooth ^_^ as in flawless. I like the concept and the freedom expressed by your poem. Good Job :)

Terrific poem. Something that should be featured. I really enjoyed reading it. I know you'll probably get these reviews all saying it's really good, but the fact is it is delicate and epic. The length of the poem is good, not too long, not too short. Words that have been used is adequate and provide the exact feeling that you probably wanted to express. At first I thought it was a rhyming but it turned out to be a great free verse. *thumbs up!* :)
