You handed me a cracked beer bottle,
caked in dirt, and ran course fingers
through your hair. Everything about you
has been rough lately, like sandpaper,
like your half-bitten nails and the ridges
that cover this stretch of land before the sea.
It gnaws at our paradise, polluted thoughts
of past loves and artisan's shells that flash
pearly white smiles, dreams where we only
sway in their direction before they scatter again,
tossed by tides of impulse, moon patterns
that sail our undefined life.
"Brush the sand off and
fill it to the brim with seawater."
It's like your always trying to drink brain fluid,
drown yourself in melancholy drama, running
a rowboat back and forth on the horizon -
hoping for tidal waves, for pirate ships and
sea urchins. Hoping that you'll fall off the
edge of the world.
As the lapping waves steal grains of sand and
I loose ground, you stand on the jetty,
foam flickering in your rocky eyes.
You could sift through your problems,
cut castles from your stones.
But you wave to me for a drink of broken glass,
your hand falls and with thunder and
rushing passion, it's all swept underneath
your glassy eyes.
I've fallen in a thousand times.

I thought this was very beautiful. The words flowed really nice and you had a great image in all of them. The description put out a wonderful perspective and the whole time I felt mesmerized as I read through the lines. The only thing I would fix is the way your lines read like a paragraph. It wasn't terrible but it could use some parting so that your readers don't feel overwhelmed when looking at this poem. Great job.
Keep at it!

Coarse is a word, and it was used in proper context.
I like it...I think. I'm not exactly sure, but I don't -dis- like it exactly...
Punctuation, one teeny tiny little thing that -really- annoys me is when people can't tell the difference between your, and you're. Also their, there and they're. Grah it annoys me!
And yes, you mixed up your and you're.
And I agree with Ravenna, the way you broke up the lines could use a little work...but spelling and punctuation tends to jump out at me with a slap in the face!
'course' is a track, as in something that you run around or the like, not a description of texture
But I -do- like how you melded the definition between a person (male I assume) and the sea, it's lovely, especially how you start of talking about this person but by the end of the poem you are exclusively referring to the sea, yet the reader doesn't quite notice -exactly- when you transfer your reference over. Well done.

beautiful. i totally understand.
though it was good...i might reconsider the way you broke the lines up. .it was a bit awkward because i don't really think a pause fit at the end of one line & start of another
