Live Your Life (Reviews Needed)

Time is a funny thing. It tears people apart, brings them together, breaks hearts and stitches them together. It’s notable that we all think that with one mistake, our seemingly solid worlds will become as fragile as glass, and fall apart; the world freezing over and grinding to a halt, but with all the honesty I can muster, I can tell you right now that that’s not true. Time will keep going on, the sun will keep rising in the morning, and will set in the evening, setting the sky ablaze with not only streaks of color, but the first glimpses of stars that tell the future. The human race keeps marching on. We keep marching on.

The other thing about time that I should mention is that it’s short. Well, not time itself, but the time we’ve been allotted to walk upon Earth. We’re all destined a fate, no matter what that fate is. We’re born, learn how to fly, then come either crashing down or soaring down, dust ourselves off, and walk into the sunset. I know how hard it can be sometimes to just live the way you want to, but here’s my advice- if we’re only given a certain amount of time, look around you. To your right, and to your left. Ahead of you. Behind you. Everywhere, in this room, there are people. So talk to them. Say hello. Start a conversation! Don’t be afraid to get out of your shell for a moment, even if you’ve been rejected before.

There is something that I know to be true. Humans are born with wings, and although we can’t see them, they exist. For the last three years of our lives, we have been through so much together, and have watched, from afar, others finally find the right gust of wind, unfurl their wings, and take flight. Three years of walking through the halls that would change us. Three years of love and of heartbreak. Three years of crying and laughter and confused emotions that have rattled everyone’s minds. Finally, the time has come for us. A promise the wind makes us as our wings slowly, carefully, unfold from our backs. A whisper. Live. Be free. Even our future is undecided, wrapped in an enigma of silence thus far- but we live life before life outlives us.

Live your life the way you want to. But consider this - one thing you do now could change someone’s whole world. One thing you do now can cause ripples to be sent flying through time and space to change your future. It’s called the Butterfly Effect. Yes, it seems surreal, but think about it. Everything you do has a profound effect on the future. It could be a second from now. A minute from now. An hour. A day. A year. Everything causes something else. You can change someone’s life if you just say hello. Think about the power you have to make someone happy. Just with your words. And the science behind it? Amazing.

Take a moment and think of your own future, and your own goals. Think about what it’ll be like when you finally achieve your dream. Then, look back. Think about the steps you need to take to get there, the obstacles that will no doubt block your way, and how you’ll overcome them. People will lose faith in you. People will give up on you. People will stop believing in you.

Not me.

When the shadows and the darkness make the enticing threats that you will not win, that it would be easier to give up and cave in, that everyone would think better of you if you just stopped and you’re losing hope in yourself, I believe in you. All of you! I don’t want you, any of you, to feel like you’re alone right now.

It’s how I’ve felt too many times to count. When I was broken, I didn’t have anyone to lean on. I was scared. I couldn’t even trust my closest friends. So instead, I took to music. Literature. Art. I’m in the middle of working on an album that started as just a melody in my head. I want to be the person who’s always there for people, and I want to be the person who you can trust. I’ve been there before, and if I haven’t, then I try my hardest to be someone who you can talk to.

After the dust has settled and you see me for who I am, sure, I can be a mess, but I’m a genuine and honest person. I want everyone to go pursue their dreams! Go for success all throughout high school, into college (if you’re going), and into the rest of your life. Even if nothing works out the way it was supposed to, I’m here. There are people around you who you can talk to. There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Time is a funny thing. It can change people. It can change lives. You can, too. You just have to choose that path.
