Sister

What does my sister mean to me, you ask?
The world. There for my ups and downs.
My smiles and frowns,
And sometimes we just clown around.
But when I break down,
She’ll help me rebound.
And if I’m getting dragged down,
She’ll pull me aground.
But on occasion I need to be flagged down,
And she’ll be the first to do that, hands down.
If I’m ever getting pushed around,
She’ll be the one to mow ‘em down.
Without my sister I’d be beaten and worn down,
So thanks, Heather, for sticking around
Through all my let downs!

I really liked this poem. It flowed easily. I enjoyed the way you ended each line similarly. This definitely describes the relationship between my sister and I and i thought it was very relatable. Good job!

Hi Suvayan!

First of all: AWWWWWWWW! This is kind of adorable. I am sure your sister loved it, if you showed her it. :)

Now! Because something which is awesome can always be improved… there are ways to make it even more endearing! One thing that you can try doing is be a little more specific about her! After all, in these sorts of situations, there are always side jokes and other little things going on, and even the mention of an inside joke would make us smile (because, we understand it to be an inside joke) and make her even smile harder, because she would totally understand what you’re talking about.

Another thing! I don’t know about your sister, but my sister would look at the rhyming scheme of this poem, and would start teasing me about the constant rhyming. You can always vary it, if you want! You are not stuck with one and only one rhyming pattern throughout. So, if you find this rhyming pattern to be a bit of a hassle, feel free to try other rhymes!

Anyway, this is a lovely poem, and I am glad you shared it. Sorry for not finding it sooner! :D

Nice Poem...
It reveals the importance of having a sibling! :) You should post it somewhere else on the web. Happy Writing!
