The Inversion

The Inversion

My legs were losing life every dreaded second I stared at the haunting crease of light emitting faintly from the nightlight in the child’s bedroom. For the first time since I can remember I felt a sudden rush of fear; fear because of what evil scene waited for me behind that door.

I inhaled once deeply before I took the slow and cautionary steps towards the room, before I entered the holy senses in my eyes caught the light of extreme purity, it is a rarity in this world from what my mother told me, only she was equal to this particular level , but this certain light was… familiar. I have laid eyes upon this light before, it was from the infant that I baptized only days ago, the most beautiful angelic energy I have ever witnessed, but now the energy was weak, not weak as if the purity was being changed… but dying.

“No” I whispered, I lightly pushed open the door.  The scene that fell before me was more than evil, it was demonic.  I fell numb- my legs could no longer stand- I buckled down to my knees, grasping my chest as if I was trying to hold my heart from tearing out. The angelic child was hanging lifeless from the ceiling, crucified with chains through her dimpled hands and feet.  Her throat was compressed, she was suffocated slowly.

I began to tear “Dear father, how could you let this happen…” I pleaded, he did not answer me, I asked again but this time more harshly, still no reply.

I couldn’t take this pain anymore my lungs were starting to fail it felt like I was being crushed from the inside of my body. I was slowly beginning to die but then an energy deep within my heart started to surface since I have been born I was always told to keep this energy buried to never let it consume me, for if it did I will be overwhelmed with nothing but bloodlust and murderous revenge.

It was the demonic energy instilled in me by the blood of my father’s demon, helped kept in check by the sword of my mother’s angel. This broke me; the dark grave where the evil always tried desperately to dig out from was rising.  I was letting it.

I turned in a desperate attempt to stop it, I tried to listen for my mother my guardian angel, her angelic voice always guiding me in the right steps, walking me in the right paths, keeping my faith intact never letting me lose my purity, I tried hard to listen for her, I know she was here with me, watching me suffer, “Mother” I murmured, “save me…”

    She was silent…

I know you wrote this a longgg time ago, but I saw you had recently posted the second part to this so I figured I'd read up so I knew what was going on. You are an excellent writer. You have a great sense of diction. You know how to give simple, yet vivid descriptions. Even though this was short, I enjoyed reading it. I'm glad you decided to narrate this story in first person because it gives it a certain deep emotional quality that it might otherwise lack. This was a great start and I anticipate reading the second part.

Thank you im glad you liked it :)

I really just want to know what the hell is going to happen now. I really enjoyed this scene. It was dark, it was creepy, and I think you captured it well. The only problem I really had was that there is a great amount of run on sentences.
But that was my only "problem". I enjoyed it and look forward to reading your other stuff.

I posted a continuation if the chapter it's a more in depth description of the transformation. Enjoy :)

Hi there! Here to review as requested :)

What you have here is a good start for a good story. You said this was part of another story, right?

One thing that stood out to me was the multiple run on sentences. I'll quote a few of them so you know what I'm talking about:

My legs were losing life every dreaded second I stared at the haunting crease of light emitting faintly from the nightlight in the child’s bedroom, for the first time since I can remember I felt a sudden rush of fear; fear because of what evil scene waited for me behind that door

I inhaled once deeply before I took the slow and cautionary steps towards the room, before I entered the holy senses in my eyes caught the light of extreme purity, it is a rarity in this world from what my mother told me, only she was equal to this particular level , but this certain light was… familiar.

I was slowly beginning to die but then an energy deep within my heart started to surface since I have been born I was always told to keep this energy buried to never let it consume me, for if it did I will be overwhelmed with nothing but bloodlust and murderous revenge, it was the demonic energy instilled in me by the blood of my father’s demon, helped kept in check by the sword of my mother’s angel.

So you get my point. I understand that you are trying to communicate a lot of information, but you need to break it up some. Here's an example of how you could change the first sentence to make it work:

My legs were losing life every dreaded second I stared at the haunting crease of light emitting faintly from the nightlight in the child’s bedroom replace comma with a period f For the first time since I can remember I felt a sudden rush of fear; fear because of what evil scene waited for me behind that door

If you go back and reread these sentences out loud you'll be able to tell where to make a new sentence.

Also this is a giant paragraph. Since it's a short piece, it is fine for now. But once you get into bigger pieces, you'll want to break them up. I make sure to create a new paragraph every time there is dialogue or a new description. Go back and read over it and see where a break would make sense.

I would like to give high praise to your descriptions. They are very detailed and I can imagine everything. Especially when you described what happened to the baby.

Overall this is a good start. I give it a 4/6.

Keep writing!
