Could have been a lover,
would have been a Valentino.
There was no need for a dying love.
All the pieces would have fit like a hangman,
yet no.
It's never good enough.
Could have kissed to the sound of a note piano,
playing a sweet, sad song.
But the man in the big top hat has a sign sayng,
true love can never go on.
(chorus)
In the Silent Movies,
it can't be what you want.
In the Silent Movies,
you give it your whole heart.
You watch and you hope and you cry but,
you can't say a word.
In the silent movies.
Could have been gobbled,
would have stolen the show.
It was a stretch of you rights.
There was no need for words,
I was there for the taking,
with no compromise.
And the reel would've turned round,
if only you had stuck to your part.
But,you threw it all away so you could go,
stealing my heart.
(repeat chorus)
Understanding all these changing moods,
did you know I could?
You didn't realise.
I'm standing at the back of the back of a crowded room,
I can see your soul,
if I can see your eyes.
Could have been your lover ,
could you be my Valentino?

I must say that I'm quite impressed. After the second read-through it began to "sing".
Also the way it tends to play with the given view on the lyrics it makes a healthy contrast. What I really would like to know is the style of the song that you interpret it to be in.
Furthermore I agree with aqua specify the verses better, tad hard to read now.
Oh and did you make a typo? "It was a stretch of you rights." I think you meant "your" in the 20th-line.
Besides that; as i said before very, very nice!!
Hello, Skye!
Hmm...in the silent movies...
Having already heard it, I can say for sure it's a soulful song and MAY or MAY NOT break someone down to tears.
The lyrics are nice, although a bit disorganized (sorry!!!!).
Also, I want to tell you that you should have specified where the verses are, at least for here:
"(chorus)
In the Silent Movies,
it can't be what you want.
In the Silent Movies,
you give it your whole heart.
You watch and you hope and you cry but,
you can't say a word.
In the silent movies.
Could have been gobbled,
would have stolen the show.
It was a stretch of you rights.
There was no need for words,
I was there for the taking,
with no compromise.
And the reel would've turned round,
if only you had stuck to your part.
But,you threw it all away so you could go,
stealing my heart."
It's confusing, making people think this entire thing is a chorus.
So,....instead of that, nothing is bad! I really do love it, before, and even now, and I'm really glad you found all the lyrics and posted this!!!!
Thanks Aqua I understand! It does say where the chorus is but I should probally specify the other bits. But I will work on it more that's why I wanted you here tomorrow! But thanks for the compliments!!
Just so you all know this is my dad's song that he never finished. It's really my take on it and I feel as if it can live through me.Most of it is his but alot of it is my own too.The tune was changed a bit too.Hope you like it!
