Well, I'm not sure if anyone else has reviewed this book yet, but if not, here goes...
"Stein on Writing" by Sol Stein is my favorite writing book. It has tons of useful advice about all aspects of bringing a story together, along with dozens of examples from published fiction. I own it and have half the book highlighted, just so I can flip it open every day and read some word of wisdom. My writing has improved drastically with the help of this book, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve his writing.
Stein is somewhat contemptuous of popular fiction, but that can be overlooked. Also, this book is definitely rated "R," since it has foul language and a whole chapter on "Romance Scenes."
Has anyone else read this book or Stein's other book, "How to Grow a Novel"? What did you think?

I haven't read this book yet, but it sounds like it has tons of useful information that could really help one to improve their writing. I will be sure to check it.
However, as a book review, I think this needs a little more work. For one, book reviews are supposed to give us an idea about the book. It is supposed to break it down, analyze certain aspects and highlight the strength and the weaknesses. However, from this review, we hardly get a clear idea about the book. You need to add more content to this. We need to understand what this book is about and not just learn how much you like it. Talk to us about the book, tell us 'what' you liked about, or what stood out for you more or what you think the author could work on.
I do appreciate the heads up about the R rating though. These are the things that people would like to know about before they read the book. I hope this review did not seem to harsh. And I liked the way you ended, almost as if closing a conversation. You maintained a very free pace throughout and I really liked how it did not sound formal at all.
I have not read the book, but I would definitely like to read it someday. Hope I was able to help somewhat with this review.

Havn't read it yet, I liked some of his other workds. Actually my teachter has it in her room I'll ask her if I can steal it for a bit. =)
