through the lens of an absurdist iguana

by Seirre, Plume, Shady, lliyah

light filters easily sweeping into the plum tree orchard,
refracting across kitchen window panes
and my iguana says, "the dishes need to be washed, darling."
"I have a papercut," i whine. "this is why we should get a dishwasher."
but my iguana climbs to the windowsill, pressing paws (claws?)
against the glass, and says "no, darling, the heavy-eyelidded smell
of plums and slow morning light can be soap and water."
"Nothing is strong," i reply, "enough to cut
through this dough, sticky
and raw."
my iguana laughs in her rude little chuckle, "aren't we feeling
philosophical today?" she asks and leaps through
the gaping-open window on to a nearby plum tree.
"no", i say, my voice tinged with detergent i do not have: "you
are feeling too poetic today. there is a time and place
for poems, and this is not there or then."
"so where and when?" my iguana muses as she stretches, sun-bathing.
"where forever seems like seconds, snakelike
clock hands losing meaning. when the days bleed
together like plum juice, age and sense
the jaws that partake."
but it seems my iguana is already unlistening, munching
lazily into plum tree leaves and scribbling out her poetry notes,
as i sponge the dirty dishes, and let all the leftover water
whirlpool into the drain.

I think this was a cute comic.I liked it.I wonder if the iguana is her only friend.Maybe it’s a person, but she sees them as an iguana. What if it’s a dream? What if it doesn’t mean anything? The main character and the iguana seem very poetic.I like that. It’s a nice touch.I hope that you all have a cool and nice day and night.

Hello!! Wanderer here with a quick review (:

I absolutely LOVE this!! First of all, the illustrations are absolutely beautiful - the sketching and the style is so comforting. Secondly, the poem itself is so lovely!! It's very absurdist, a conversation with an iguana trying to be abstractly poetic while one is trying to do the dishes. The combination of such an ordinary task made bizarre is perfectly absurdist, and the simple romanticism of oding the dishes here is lovely. Overall, this entire piece is incredibly creative, bizarre, poetic, and comforting.

Keep writing/drawing!! This was fantastic

Hello Plume, Seirre, Shady and lliyah,
I hope this "review" reaches you well!
First off, amazing artwork plume! It's so cute and engaging. The layout draws the reader in and keeps them hooked till the very end. Also, just the fact that it's a sort of visual aid helps give the poem new depth.
After reading through the transcript a few times, I can tell that the plums and washing the dishes probably has a deeper meaning. But then when the Iguana asks "aren't we feeling philosophical today?", it feels as if all reasoning is thrown out the window and that this is just a fun poem instead of one filled with meaning. However, if it were to be a serious poem, I would not be able to tell what the plums represent, so there's that.
Overall I think this is a really fun and light poem. The flow and story telling is really well done, there is nothing that needs improving! I hope this review was helpful, if you have any questions feel free to ask. Keep on writing and have a great rest of your day!
