18+ Language Mature Content

The Monday Monologues - Issue #2 - Me Myself and I I I!

Warning: This work has been rated 18+ for language and mature content.

Me! Me! Me! And oh! – Let’s not forget me.

Isn’t that annoying? Yes, the eloquent individuals among us whose vocabulary seems limited to talking about themselves.

I did this.’

I won that award.’

Oh I thought I was amazing when...’

Two points to make here.

  1. Shut the fuck up

  2. You’re not THAT important.

Making the mistake of believing people care about every insignificant detail of your life is fatal. Facebook and Twitter stand testament to that, with such insightful status updates by their users.

It’s snowing! Eeek!’

Got homework. Totes bummed.’

Back from school.’

(Boo fucking hoo!) Aside from not knowing when to keep their mouths shut, what makes it worse is that these people sometimes slip into rants. For example: “My life sucks so bad, it’s not worth living, because I have so much homework to do. And I hate school and I hate my life. Oh if I had a gun. Yuck... I hate myself.’

Ok then. There are several things connoted with such statements that I think people forget. Most importantly: things aren’t usually as bad as you think they are. And secondly, there are always going to be people worse off than you.

Humanity seems to thrive off reading about the misfortunes of others, so start reading the newspapers over breakfast and you may feel a bit more cheery. After all, who doesn’t enjoy a good serial killer with their cereal?

The secret to keeping everything in proportion comes from remembering one key philosophy: It’s all relative. If you have an issue, it may seem a big deal at the time, but it will come to pass and your feelings will change.

The ‘feels’ are tricky little buggers who can be very difficult to keep track of. (A bit like being overrun with rats really.) Sometimes you think you know what you know when you’ve thought wrong and you didn’t know what you knew. You know?

Getting frustrated at feeling out of control of your emotions and thoughts is futile. And if you’re genuinely unhappy about something, chances are, the rest of the world doesn’t want to know. Obviously, it’s great to have close friends to ask for advice – but don’t rely on them permanently.

So what I’m basically saying is that becoming a whingey little bitch is not the answer. If you ARE one of those people who thinks the sun shines out your arse then this is a bit of a rude wake up call. (Not meant to sound so conceited.) If you’re not (maybe you know someone who is like this?) – then again, don’t we all!

Ultimately, we all have moments of personal ego-pampering. (And that’s allowed.) But if you catch this pampering becoming a little too frequent, then it may be something to bear in mind, that it’s all relative.

After all: Is it really accurate to say that you want to kill yourself because all of your plastic wallets fall out of your folder at college? No. At least I don’t think so. But then that’s my opinion. [laughs] See MY point? [winks]

Subtleeee here for a review-ish.....um...comment.

This is a pretty realistic rant you've got there, and one I really like too. So I'm not going to nitpick on this, because I truly do not like nitpicking on someone's personal rant written out in true frustration. Instead, I will say how I much I loved this.

Ahahaha, I love that pun by the end by the way, one of my favourite. But yeah, the first sentence? Word of wisdom, humanity really does seem to thrive off that. When someone dies, someone famous. Instead of mourning them silently, the news reporters have a field them telling the world oh, how sad it is. .-.

And the part about self-centred people too, yes, I can relate.

This whole piece, ostensibly ranting but is actually offering such awesome advice! I really love it, just epic work!

Sphealwithit here.....

Wow. Finally someone who feels the same way i do! To be honest, i think everyone needs a good rant every now and then, it's just that people should keep it off social media.

Back to your "Rant" The whole point about people being really self centered makes me wonder if i'm like that sometimes. It also makes a good point about how we have so many first world problems. I hate to admit it but i do it quite alot.

It's good, you should rant more often.

Sphealwithit out.
