I Want A Star

A

Star

Shines bright

In the darkness of

Night. It sits so far away,

So high up in the sky.

I wish I could take

A star home

With me.

But…

Hey there, nice poem you wrote! Its so short and simple! I also like how you shape this poem into a diamond. If you're willing, write more! The word "butt" is such a cliffhanger for me.

By the way, I also want a star, but unfortunately its made up of gas so once you come to earth, it disappears.

Sunshine here to review...

This poem is really neat. I like how you give your poems an actual shape to compliment your words. I do agree with Hadj, it did remind me of "Nothing Gold Can Stay." I kind of want you to continue with that thought.... But it's cool how you left it open ended. It makes the reader wonder and think about why you can't have a star.

"So high up in the sky."

That kind of reminded me of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

Your poem is simple, but meaningful. I don't have any nitpicks. This was a very beautiful poem. :) keep on writing! Your poems are really great :D I look forward to more of your works. :)

Such a beautiful poem!

I felt a lot of happiness and beauty at the beginning, but by the end I felt it was saying something along the lines of "Nothing Gold Can Stay"

The formatting was beautiful, although it was a bit disappointing that you had to cut off words like "Night" to make it work.
Also, the abrupt ending is awesome!

Great work and keep writing!

Haii there. :)

I love the formatting in this! And I love how it takes the form of a star (sort of), but it's still simple to read.

I wish there was more to this. I like the feel of emotion in here, the plain, calm, sadness, the exasperation of not being able to take stars home.

For such a short poem, this has about half and half : emotion and imagery. There's not much imagery and description you can put in for a short poem like this, and it seems enough. It shines bright in night, yeah, got that. It's far, and it's high. And then you have your emotion half, which I already talked about.

I wish you could make a part two, or maybe longer? The "But" leaves me wondering. I mean, yeah, we know you can't have a star, but what other feelings will you feel?
(Of course, you don't have to make more. Only if you want.)

I love this poem, it pretty much states your opinion loud a clear. Great job, keep writing!
