The smell of the chocolate sundae made my mouth water. I hadn’t eaten for two days straight, I hadn’t slept for two days straight and I felt like death. But she was worse than me. Her black eye had a hazy grey to it now instead of purple; a pang of guilt shot through my stomach every time I looked at her blue eyes. I had done that to her, not personally but through my actions they caused her that.
Her cut hands wrapped around the spoon like it was a source of life. She lifted it up to her cut lip and the ice cream began to melt from the heat of her breath. She shoved it in her mouth, her eyes closing making her black eye look much worse. She chewed down on the sundae and began shovelling the food into her mouth. Not stopping to let air down her throat. My stomach growled and I placed a hand on it to try and stop the sound. But she heard it.
Her blue eyes gazed at my green ones and I felt the world begin to rock again … why did she have to look at me like that? Her eyes full of hurt and worry, I felt my stomach tighten and I wished more than anything to wipe away that look and lock it up forever. “You should eat.” Her voice was cracked and dry. I ducked my head my eyes staring straight at the beaming red café table that we sat at. It was the only way I could cut that look out of my head. I heard the scrap of a chair and my eyes look up. She had gotten up and was beginning to walk away. “Angie!” I pulled myself up and went after her. I pulled my leather jacket off my chair and stormed after her.
Her hand pulled open the door and my hand slammed down on the glass blocking her from getting out. “What are you doing?” I hissed, seeing the attention we were getting already. An old man stood up out of his seat. Now I’m not the one for attacking pensioners, but I kept my eyes on him.
“It’s clear you don’t even want to speak to me Cal, so I would be better making my own way back home.” Angie tried to push my hand off the glass but it stayed firm. I couldn’t believe she was doing this. Of course I wanted to speak to her, but her eyes … they made me feel horrible … how accusing they were. “Don’t be stupid!” I answered my eyes flickered to her for a moment. The look was still there.
“So now I’m stupid am I? What else Cal? Am I a whore too? Seeing as your friend went that little bit extra to show his power over me?” Her words were practically a dagger ripping through my flesh and tearing down to spear my heart. My hand loosened on the glass slightly and I looked down. My eyes began to sting and I pushed down the lump in my throat.
“I didn’t … know.” That was my worst lie ever. Of course I knew he even put a bet on it. But he didn’t go that far. He didn’t do the stupid thing that would cause her damage the most. She clawed his face and he ended up giving her the black eye before he stormed out calling her a whore. But I knew. “Don’t you dare, pretend you didn’t know. This proves that you know.” She pointed to her black eye and I felt my stomach flip. I didn’t want this … I didn’t even plan for this to happen. That’s when I didn’t notice the words were tumbling out of my mouth before I could stop them.
“Angie, I didn’t want any of this to happen okay? They just wanted you for kidnap money … being the daughter of the senator. He would of listened to our demands … released the rebel soldiers we wanted that’s all. Moe was drunk he didn’t … he didn’t know …” the words stopped. I couldn’t exactly say that Moe didn’t know what he was doing because he did. Angie suddenly gave me a hard shove and I stumbled by surprise. Her eyes looked angry “is that what I am to you now Cal … No longer the girl, that was always there for you when your own farther beat you senseless. But instead I’m kidnap money. I’m a bribe to start off a war.” I stood up then and took her by the shoulders and began shaking her as if to get some sense through her head. “Don’t even think for one second that you are that to me!” I let her drop and she fell to the floor. Her eyes sparkling and tears streaming her cheeks.
“Are you alright Miss?” The old man was making his way over. I turned to him my eyes glaring,
“back off she’s fine.” I growled. The old man put his hands up in a protective sort of way and back up. Angie pulled herself up not even bothering to hide the fact that she was crying.
The guilt began to swell up again. I had caused her to cry and I was being such a bastard to her. I reach out her hand as an offer to help her up but she slapped it away. Anger was burning through her eyes. “Just take me home Cal.” Those words were enough for the dagger to reach my heart.
“Fine.” I answered and swung open the door with such force it banged the wall and the glass rattled.
I stood out in the open heat with the sun bearing down on me and that’s when I saw the hazy glare of Moe’s jag. I back up into the diner just in time to hear screams and people diving under tables. I spun around and pulled out the gun from my trouser waist band. Steven was standing behind Moe aiming his gun at my head. His blonde hair fell in front of his eyes but I knew that wouldn't affect his aim. He could kill a man with his eyes closed. But my eyes shot back to Angie. The panic on her face and beads of sweat broke through on her forehead. Her hands were trying to push the arm that held her around her neck off. But it came out in a desperate clawing motion. Moe had his arm around her neck tightly his gun was pointed at her temple and that’s when I began to panic. Moe’s hair was stuck to his forehead with sweat “so Cal, you and this whore didn’t get very far did you?” Moe’s voice cut through the diner like shards of ice. I kept my gun on Steven but it hovered between them both. “Get … off me you … pig.” Angie’s voice just managed to come out of her crushed air pipe. Her legs were kicking every part she could reach of Moe. He let out a cold laugh.
“Now darling, you don’t generally say that when a gun is pointed to your temple.” Just to make sure Moe proved his point. He shot the floor just next to Angie’s foot and she let out a sharp wale as if expecting the pain to shoot through her foot. But relief flooded through her eyes. Those blue eyes that now looked at me desperately but some other emotion was swarming through them.
“Now Cal, you can put your gun down on the floor. Or we will just have to send her remains to her farther.” Moe held a hard smile on his face and he pushed the barrel of gun harder onto Angie’s head. Panic was swarming through me and I felt my blood thump in my head.
“Leave her alone Moe, you’re angry at me not her. Let her go.” I answered raising one hand up showing a sign of surrender but keeping my gun trained on Moe’s head.
“And miss the look you have on your face? Oh I didn’t know you were this deep in with the whore. How much did you pay her?” Moe never dropped the smile of his face. “Oh … she doesn’t know does she? Oh how sweet.” I stepped forward and Moe finger pressed the trigger slightly. “Ah. Ah. Ahh.” He was shaking his head as if in disappointment. “You will not move an inch. Or I will shoot you until your just a bloody corpse while dear little Angie looks on.” I clenched my teeth together and tried with all my might not to grind my teeth with the anger flooding through.
Moe brushed his lips against Angie’s neck and I saw her try and move away but Moe held her face stopping her from moving. His lips kissed her neck and I saw goose pimples rise. She looked like she wanted to be sick. “Wouldn’t it be a shame Angie that if Romeo here, the one that truly loves you was to die right in front of your eyes? … Now it would solve a lot of problems for us.” Moe practically spat the words out and the gun left Angie’s head and suddenly trained on me. That's when everything slowed down; no sound reached my ears. I saw Angie screaming as Moe let the trigger pull and I felt smearing pain through my liver as I fell to the floor the gun skidding out of my hands as I watched Moe drag Angie away. The bright red lips screaming something I couldn’t make out. My name? She was fighting with all her strength as I was slipping into darkness but before I did my hearing came back to me and I heard Angie’s voice “Cal! Cal … no! I … I love you.” Then I was pulled into darkness.

I really liiked this story. At first I was a little skeptical but as it went on I liked it more and more. Because its a short story I think you should add more detail in the beginning and not just leave it all for the middle of the story. but other than that it was really good(:
thank you for that
