The man’s man
Starting at the dawn of time and up until now, men have always seemed like the tougher sex. Men have always held the position of hunter or farmer or footballer. Because of the way men have presented themselves in history, they have earned the reputation of being strong, protective, insensitive, aggressive, untidy. The word “manly” is comprised of these adjectives. But things are changing. Gradually men are exposing some of their “feminine” side. Gradually men are being allowed to do things reserved only for females in the past. And this is a good thing in my opinion.
A very prominent change developing in men is the introduction of a fashion sense. The cheap, bare minimum of a rugby jersey, jeans and trainers no longer cut it for most men. Instead, they are spending more money on “stylish” clothing and have a more specific taste to cater for. This is obvious all over the world. What was once a homosexual or metrosexual sense of fashion is now a common occurrence on the streets of New York, London, Sydney and most other cities in the world. Men are learning to express themselves through a different medium which is a positive social development.
I believe that there is a key reason for this. Men are constantly trying to impress women and so they are constantly changing themselves to cater for changing female interests. In the times when women needed to be protected from hunger, cold and other people, men who could provide that protection were attractive. Now days that protection is irrelevant in western society and so women are attracted to other things. A sense of style and fashion is an impressive trait in the eyes of most women so the males have “evolved” to take on that trait.
I believe that this evolution is not complete yet and it will be a while before a man can embrace his feminine side without words like “poof” and “fag” being thrown around but for now it is a positive development. No longer should a guy have to hide the fact that for Christmas he would really rather a pair of Vans than a soccer ball or that he would actually like the gossip column not the business section. The days of a man’s man are coming to an end.

I do like the original idea put forth in this concise and cute article. Cute, for it suggests a clever opinion that can seem rude to some men, the kind of man whom,you believe, has by now disappeared.
Since the creation of the human race, manhood was and still considered to be the qualities, such as strength, courage, etc, that people think a man should have. But, even in archaic civilizations there existed men who look feminine or act like females, either to attract them or because they were born by nature that way.
Additionally, in the old days, homosexuality prevailed abundantly. Therefore, to assume that men mixed with sensitive feminine qualities is a trend of the day of modern societies, is but a myth.
Besides, Throughout human history, I believe, personalities are the same. What you might find in a human being a thousand years B.C, you can still find it in another man, two thousand years A.D.
Human traits are the same regardless of time or place. There was once the brave and the coward, the generous and the cheap, the frivolous and the serious, and of course the girlish and the boyish.
I am tolerant both to the idea you suggest and to the type of men you consider to be fashionable and modern.
But, I don’t agree with what you mentioned, that this is the best way to attract women. I still adhere to the fact that a woman, generally speaking, is more impressed by a guy who possess “manly” qualities than by someone who is purely a man through his sexual organ.
Moreover, I disagree, as I said previously, with the thought that these kinds of half-men, if I may call them thus, exist only nowadays. Because, they have been, unfortunately, there since Adam and Eve ate from the supposedly tree of knowledge .

I agree with you that 'manly man' is slowly fading. And yes, fashion is one of the greatest evidence of this. There are more psychological factors to this. Take me for example, I really don't join any boys in regular activities (But I do enjoy their company, I'm a man myself!) but I don't lose my masculinity. I enjoy things others don't, like reading and studying. This means there are other factors that can affect man's loss of manliness. There a lot of things men can do now but not before due to a sense of freedom that is true and solace. This is the same as women. Before, women do all the housework, but now, the work is spread all throughout! Changes, eh?
