Fern Midori #1

PreviousNext

Fern rested in the meadow grass, snoring lightly. It had been a very long week--she and the rest of Team World Adventure had been fighting villains nonstop lately. She sometimes wondered if those evil maniacs would ever stop their onslaught.

So, once Combustor Carmine had finally been reverted back to her human self and sent home, Fern took the chance to go and relax. Preferably, somewhere where that blue idiot wouldn't find her.

So Fern had gone to the meadow to take a well-deserved nap. It would have been quite a good nap if it hadn't been for her theory of the blue hero not being able to find her being wrong.

Sure enough, Fern awoke to a pair of big green eyes.

"Yo."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Fern raised her legs and kicked Sonic off her, sending him flying into the grass.

"Well...didn't see that coming," said Sonic.

"Don't sneak up on me like that!" Fern yelled, her face ever so red. "What were you DOING?"

"You didn't show up at the castle, so Ryn wanted me to look for you," Sonic replied cheerfully.

Fern huffed. "Great excuse, Frizzletop."

"No, that was the truth."

"It's still an excuse."

Sonic rolled his eyes. "Well, okay then, Miss Difficult."

Fern glared at him and laid back down. "Go away."

"No."

"Go away."

"I can do this all day. No."

"Why can't you bug your red friend instead of me?" Fern asked bitterly, closing her eyes.

"Because Knux doesn't like me messing around on his island when I have plenty of land to do stunts on anyway," Sonic replied, tugging the trim of his shorts. Once again, it was the truth. At least, ever since Knuckles had banned the entirety of Team World Adventure from Angel Island after they nearly destroyed it once.

Fern sighed. How she hated his "nice guy" nature. It was too hard to dislike. "Fine. Stay if you want. But bug me and I'll gladly kick your butt."

Sonic grinned. "Sure. Whatever you say."

Fern returned to her nap as Sonic sat with her, feeling the gentle breeze graze the hills. It was a peaceful day, with a pale blue sky and a sweet scent in the air. Everything was well.

After about an hour, Fern stirred. Sonic smiled lightly as she opened her lime-green eyes.

"You're still here?!" Fern almost shouted, bolting upright.

"Well, you said to not bug you. You didn't tell me to leave." Sonic smirked sneakily.

Fern blushed red. He was so sweet yet she hated him for it. "Let's just go back to the castle," she said, rising.

Sonic hopped up and followed her, wondering why the faint red tint still coated Fern's face.

Sorry, I accidentally said submit before I had typed anything! Anyway, here for a review. Liking it so far, I guess that you will expand on the people's characters and who they are and what they do in further chapters. So, sounds almost like X-men, one of my favorites. I also did something similar, Myth League. I would enjoy reading more of this story. Its kind of funny in a different way. I can't put my finger on it, except that you almost think that Sonic likes Fern. Had to say that. Keep it coming!

Thanks for reviewing!
There's a "pilot episode" for this series on here now, which will expand some more on Sonic and Fern. Once I get enough points, I'll publish episode 2 with the Milky Twins, and I think Ryn will be the last character we really meet.
It sounds like X-Men? I never thought about that...thanks!

I love this! I've loved Sonic and his gang since I was a little girl, and this takes it to a different level. I would say that Fern likes Sonic by the way she kept blushing. I don't have really anything to complain about on this story. It's cute, reader friendly, and overall, a good story! :) But, if I did change one thing, I would have to say...more detail. I love a story that will allow me to "see" the setting and situation. If I didn't know anything about Sonic, then I would just think this story was about a blue person who was talking to a girl (who liked him). So maybe more detail next time?

Yay! Sonic buddies! I love him, too.
You're right--Fern does really like him, it's just that she's too tsundere to admit it. I've been working on putting in more detail, and I think I might have accomplished that in Team World Adventure Ep. 1, but I don't know.
Thanks for reading!

Hi! and Welcome to YWS PatchworkStudy :)

This was so cute, fun and romantic. hahaha. I apologize for that, I just can't contain my smile. I don't have anything to correct but I do have some things I would like to be elaborated. What kind of place is Angel Island? What does it look like? And what kind of guild is Team World Adventure? What types of people/fighters/warrior are in there? I hope to know more about them and their world in the next chapters.

I really like this. Keep writing.
Good job :)

Thank you! I enjoy being on here already.

YES, the ship tease is all there. Even if Fern refuses to acknowledge it.

I cannot answer your first question, that will be in a later chapter. ;) But the second one I CAN answer. Team World Adventure (or TWA) is a team of five quirky teenagers with their own abilities: Ryn (a caricature of myself who wields a magical pen), Sonic (a human version of the hedgehog character gifted with super speed), Fern (a ninja/ex-assassin who uses twin leaf blades), Milkshake (an eleven-year-old, ditzy Sweet Mage) and her twin Buttermilk (a shy White Mage). They band together to stop villains from conquering their city, Adventure City. But, hilarity ensues without the bad guys as well.

I shall keep writing! Thanks for your critique.

Wow, they have different characteristics. Looking forward to meet the other members :)

Myth League (one of my creations) also has five "talented" teens! Great minds think alike!

I have a Gumbie Cat in mind, her name is Jennyanydots; Her coat is one of the tabby kind, with tiger stripes and leopard spots.
