The Odd
You probably don’t know me;
I mean, who does?
I am the one that sits in the back
With no intention to talk .
I sit by the far corner without a will.
I know who you are, but you don’t know who I am.
I am the shadow, the outcast, the odd.
You pass me in the hallways,
And push me in the process.
Do you stop to look at me?Do you stop to say sorry?
NO.
You don’t.
You keep walking with your head held high,
Not caring for the ashamed, poor soul now on the ground.
When I try to speak, you simply look away,
Not wanting to hear me out.
You act as if I don’t exist, like I’m not worth your time.
You call me a loser, an embarrassment.
But who are you to call me that
When you embarrass yourself by saying that
I stay quiet not wanting to talk.
After all, I am the odd, the one that doesn’t belong to this world.
The one that is always ignored.
When I want to play
You tell everyone to push me away.
You think you are cool by being a bull,
But let me tell you;
You may be the bull and I may be the red bandana
That you always want to attack
But at the end, the odd, like me, will succeed
For our unique way of showing things.
Things that you didn’t understand.
You say you are normal, but
What is normal?
How do you become normal?
You don’t know.
You just imitate those around you,
wanting for them to accept you.
Only hearing the newest music in the radio,
only wearing this year season clothes, but for what?
Who are you trying to impress?
While me, the one you call an outcast,
acts the only way I want.
I don’t depend on anyone
I don’t have to act like everyone.
I do the things that I think are right;
I work with my own mind.
And that’s what angers you the most.
I can be free.
While you will be confined.
The one’s that succeeds are always the ones who have a few tricks up their sleeve.
The one that losses is the one that deceives.
So tell me.
Are you normal?
For me you aren’t.
You are odd, just like me.
So don’t try and deny it, because you know that’s the truth.
Imitating someone is odd.
Wanting to be someone you are not
it’s odd.
So if you call me odd for being unique.
For being who I am.
Then you are odd
For being someone you are not.

Before I give my review (it is a positive review, no worries), I just want to point out that this is seriously close to my high school life.
I remember being pushed down the stairs in school because apparently, I was not that well liked. I was not a stereotypical smart person. I actually get good grades but not that great to be called a nerd or something similar. I guess I just drew the short stick when I entered the hallways during my freshmen year. Regardless of all the things I had endured, I was beyond happy to have gone through high school doing the things I wanted to do. I did the things that made me happy and that was alright with me. So kudos for the narrator for knowing who she is instead of blending in with society.
Alright, now for my review. I love this. Sincerely, I do. The story and message behind is fantastic. This was a great piece about two people in a high school caste system. One of them getting lost trying to find himself and the other being comfortable being the odd man out.
The flow tone was pretty on point and you did not stick to the mandatory rhyming beats which was pretty great in my opinion. Awesome.
"The one’s that succeeds are always the ones who have a few tricks up their sleeve.
The one that losses is the one that deceives." This has got to be my favorite line in the whole poem. Can I ask what was on your mind as you wrote this? Honestly, this was pure genius.
Overall, I have nothing negative to day. I do not even have pointers to give because this was pretty amazing. I hope you keep up the great work and I sincerely can not wait for any future work from you.
Now to start I'm still new to this so I might not be the best reviewer.
This poem has a great feel to it with the outcast vibe you kept with the entire poem. The line about the red bandanna confused me. I know what you mean but I don't think bandanna was the right word to use. Also stanzas could help format wise there are tutorials on how to format with this website. Either way throughout the poem you created a story that had great descriptions it was easy to imagine the memories throughout each line, I really like how you did that. I really hope to see you keep writing. Have a great day.
~Hello ^8^

(It's my new so called resolution to do at least one review a day and I think I shall leave a review for you today!)
Be scared!I see it's a combined effort! I've to say that you and vinny nailed it! First let me tell me tell you what I loved about your poetry.
1. The narration: It's so real that I could almost picture everything that's written here. It's more like a conversation and personally I do conversate a lot in my poetry (Which sometimes sound too weird <.<) but here they're totally great!
2. The simplicity: Your poetry is easily understandable which isn't what most of the poems are (I mean, some of my poetry too sound little awful to me! <.<) Here the plot is clear and that makes it my new favourite!!
3. The flow: It flows so nicely and without major interruption, this poem steadily progressed from a scene to other. It's quite pleasant. ^0^
4. The format: Even though you didn't make stanzas, I don't think I felt like you should have either! The use of punctuation is good too. Even if there are some stuff you could improve on there, I couldn't tell! I'm not really an expert on the use of punctuations. :/
And also, I should add, great work on the title!
I don't really have any suggestion for you on this! It just seems perfect! <3 I like the kiddish touch here too! In this line, particularly: "You may be the bull and I may be the red bandana.."
The questioning part here is quite applaudable as well:
But, there this thing which is bugging me a little. >.< Like, see this, you said at the very first that, you're odd. And, it seemed okay to me. It's okay to be odd. But, then you call THEM odd for being a total copycat, a handicapped person. It's little weird, at least to me. :3 Being odd, or thinking outside of the box or the ability to do that is actually a blessing to me and you shouldn't give some nasty bully the pride of being called as "Odd." PLEASE, that's unfair! ;_;
Apart from that, it was a total fantastic read! Thank to both of you! I'd love to read more from you! Now, have a great day!
All the love~
This is the most painful poem I have ever read. I can actually feel the pain of the persona. And basically, I can relate to this poem.

I like this part:
"Are you normal?
For me you aren’t.
You are odd, just like me.
So don’t try and deny it, because you know that’s the truth.
Imitating someone is odd.
Wanting to be someone you are not
it’s odd."
Yeah, I would agree on this one. I was once the type of person who try to be like someone else. But I learned myself that I shouldn't be imitating that person because it would make me feel like I'm fake. A friend told me that everyone has their own "culture", meaning their own "originality". Once we try to adapt someone else's culture, its like we are "second-hand" people.
That's why in this last four lines:
"So if you call me odd for being unique.
For being who I am.
Then you are odd
For being someone you are not."
That's a very nice point for someone who calls a person odd because he/she is being unique. Why are we trying to be unique? Because we don't want to imitate someone that we are not. We are not trying to be fake in this world.
P.s~ sorry I'm ranting xD But to be honest, the poem is really good. I understand it so well, I guess maybe it was based on my experience and I can feel the story behind in this poem. So, great job
xoxo~

Thank you KittyMew I really appreciate your comment. Comments like that make me want to keep writing, and keep creating.
This poem has a story behind it, and the reason for why I wrote it was the same as yours. I was bullied for being who I was and decided to imitate those around me to fit in, but it didn't worked out and i soon realized that everyone is different in one way or another.
SO yeah, you could say this poem is about a personal experience.
I hope you like it and I actually posted another poem called Fake Smiles.
Hope you like it.
