Today, I went to take a bath, and I noticed it. Ants. Not just ants. Ants with those white oval things which I assume are eggs. And a lot of both of them. They were starting to cover one entire edge of the bathroom wall. Ofc, I could have left it, told my mom, dusted it off or sprayed with hit or something. But what did I do?
Well, first, I scooped up some water in the mug and poured it over them. Hot water. Well a lot of them lost balance and went with the water, but not down the drain. They started panicking and scattering everywhere. That's not something I wanted. So I poured more and more of that hot water till the chaos subsided somewhat. Still a lot of them were alive and the eggs too were here and there.
The bucket was out of water. So this time I fill it. With boiling hot water. Just boiling hot. Why? For some reason I had this nagging feeling that all the ants that went into the drain, if they were still alive they would climb up. I did try to convince myself by saying that if I poured enough water and they went way too far down the drain they'd never be able to make it up. But what if they do and they decided to mutiny against me.
I mean it's not impossible right. As a kid I've heard stories about how snakes remember someone who did them wrong and live just for revenge and die when they've bitten their target. Probably a myth and I never bothered to confirm it.
But this other thing I read, I don't know how true it is. It was about elephants. They too apparently have good memory and take revenge on people who did them wrong.
Now I know that ants aren't as fatal as snakes or elephants but they are intelligent, at least I think so, even if they aren't, they've got insane teamwork and discipline. So if they decided they wanted to harm me, they would succeed. The only way to ensure that did not happen was to kill them. And thus, the boiling water season commenced for the ants living in the majestic swamp with no vegetation of any sort except for the occasional reptile predator(Not snakes duh). Lizards. But we got rid of Lizards somehow with some powder that poisons them. So now the ants were thriving in the bathroom. Well not anymore.
I poured and poured boiling water till I made sure none of them were moving. But I didn't get all of them, I found the track they were taking to get in from the outside, and while some of them were building their nest on the floor edges, others had already started capitalizing other edges on the same side. So what I know as of now is that some of them are alive, they probably witnessed their family being boiled to death by a giant. If you really think about it, I am the founding titan, out for blood. That's probably how they saw me. But they saw me. And they are still alive. You see what the problem with that is? They really could mutiny against me. I was stupid to leave them out just because I was lazy. I am in danger. But the good thing is, I only have a few more days in this house and I go back to college. And those ants will hopefully take longer than that to build an entire army enough to be able to harm me in any way. But maybe I deserve it if something does happen. I did murder an entire clan.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),
Hi! I'm here to leave a quick review!!
First Impression: I think this a nice little piece here. Quite short ad sweet but nonetheless effective at getting across the emotions that I think it is trying to go for in this particular moment.
Anyway let's get right to it,
Well that's the most terrifying depiction I have seen of ants and a wall there. Quite the way to start this piece. I think it absolutely does a great job of getting our attention quite quickly there and on the whole conveys quite a lot already about the kind of situation we're dealing with.
Well as terrible of a fate as that seems for the poor ants that is probably the smart move to make there, once you open with an attack like that on insects you best be ready to fully finish the fight with no stragglers left behind.
Well that seems like fairly decent logic although maybe its a bit harsher than against some potential creatures. Hopefully this boiling water doesn't cause any other problems from getting poured with reckless abandon in this manner. We shall find out I suppose.
Well that certainly is quite the note to end on. I love that you acknowledge it from the ant's side too and as hilarious as it might be to think of being terrified of an ant army, there's still a kernel of very real truth to it all that does make it genuinely terrifying and makes for almost a little cliffhanger.
Aaaaand that's it for this one.
Overall: Overall, a simple but powerful little tale of this battle with the ants. I think you did a pretty great job there of bringing this all to life here. I almost want to see more now.
As always remember to take what you think was helpful and forget the rest.
Stay Safe

Ant attack! I love it! There's an ant problem where I live, and I know just what your talking about. I like how you blend the annoyance of having the ants with you and the humor of how you decided to murder an entire clan. Your descriptions were also solid and gave me a good idea of what was going on. I also love how you personified the ants into these intelligent little villains just waiting to get their revenge on you. I never really considered ants to be intelligent. (They're tiny!) But now that I think about it, you're right. They are extremely disciplined and team-oriented. Maybe there is enough space in their tiny bodies for a brain--and according to what you say, maybe one that desires revenge! (Now, I'm getting worried...)
Overall, I really loved this. Makes me actually believe they're other people who have ant invasions!
Hope the ants won't follow you into your suitcases,
-Kaia
