Regret.
That is all I felt. My gaze lowered slightly, and eye
contact was made with the dead body at my paws. I quickly turned my head
away, not a word spoken. There was an eerie silence, as nothing seemed
to happen. I felt as if something was watching, waiting to make it's
move... My eyes widened as I thought, 'That something is me! I killed
him! What have I done?!' I felt tears start to form. Suddenly something
fell a few feet before me. I whipped my head over to the noise to hear,
"He.. He's dead... YOU KILLED HIM!!" I felt myself being thrown back
into a tree.
I let out a small grunt, "Yeah.." There was a sharp pain in my back as I tried to move out of it's grasp.
"Stop moving you fool! You deserve to die! You killed my little brother!" It snarled.
My eyes widened as I recognized the voice, "Amoux?! I didn't know he
was your brother!" I shouted slightly. Amoux moved his head to look at
me, "You sure as hell knew he was my brother! He looks exactly like me
you idiot!" He placed his claws at my neck.
I whimpered in fear,
"No! I didn't Amoux! Please believe me! I thought he was a trespasser! I
swear to the Aurora and back!" I had fear in my eyes as he pressed his
claws harder to my throat.
"You really are an idiot! Get out before I decide to murder you, Calin!" Amoux snarled darkly. I nodded quickly and he let go.
I ran as fast as I could, away from that place. I went wherever my
paws took me. After a while I glanced around quickly to see nothing
useful. I felt tears start to fall down my face and I sighed. I stopped
running and sat, letting the tears fall. "I didn't mean for this to
happen!!" I howled out.
I could feel the pain in my back increase,
but I ignored it. I knew I just needed to get to the nearest river. I
took in my surrounding quickly before deciding. "Finding the river is
what I need most. If I get there I can try and fish to get food, and I
have water to clean me off, as well as drink..." I muttered softly to
myself. I stood, wincing slightly.
I ended up at a waterfall. I
stared in wonder at the sight, it had a particular glow to it that made
me think of magic. I nodded to myself slightly. "Here is the perfect
spot..." I glanced around to see a small cave entrance cover in vines. I
cautiously entered the cave, seeing as I didn't know what was inside.
Something about the cave made me feel safe as soon as I was inside all
the way.
"Why does it make me feel safe when I just entered it..?"
I liked the coziness of the cave, as it was only 4 feet tall and 5 feet
wide.
I thought for a moment and decided to go to the river and
wash the blood off my fur, get a drink, and then sleep. I padded out of
the cave quickly and looked at the waterfall. "So beautiful.." I
muttered softly.
'Might as well just jump in.. It's not like there is a safer way to do this..'
But this proved to be a bad idea, as I hit my head on a rock as soon
as I jumped in. I quickly lost consciousness and floated down the river.
"When do you think he'll wake up, mum?" I heard a young voice say.
I tried to open my eyes, but I failed. I groaned in pain and
frustration. "There's your answer, Carie. Go get him some water please,
hun." A sweet sounding voice said.
"Yes mum, but do you want me
to get anything else? Like mint and cinnamon? Oh, and Thyme?" The first
voice asked the second.
"Yes, very good. Get those as well. Now, how are you feeling, uhm..." She trailed off.
"Calin..." I grumbled my name, trying not to talk because of pain,
but I knew I had to say something else, "I'm fine, but.... in much
pain..." I said in fragments.
"Don't talk if it hurts. Can you open your eyes?" The voice asked.
I struggled, but eventually opened them. I blinked and saw the most
beautiful wolf I have ever seen in my life. She had grey-blue eyes, and
silver fur, with a small scar on her shoulder. "You're beautiful.." I
breathed out softly.
She chuckled, "Maybe in some alternate
universe, I am. However, here I am not. Now, how does your back feel?"
she asked sweetly.
I glanced at the ground beside my head, "Good. Better then before.." I muttered.
A young black wolf jumped forward, "Hiya! I'm Carie! Will you
pretty please be my friend?!" She asked excitedly. I nodded hesitantly
and looked up to the other wolf.
"I haven't gotten your name.." I mumbled.
She blinked, "Asira." She stated so easily. I loved the name she
had, it fit her perfectly. She then looked at Carie, "Hun, go to your
part of the den. I must speak with Calin." The pup looked sad, but
nodded.
"Yes mum.." Carie turned away and sadly padded to her part of the den.
"Now, Calin. Lets get to know each other. I'd love to get to know you." She looked me in the eyes.
I nodded, a small grin coming to my face, "Yes. I would love you get to know about your charming personality."

I love a good cake. What does that have to do with this review? Absolutely nothing. Actually, I'm using it as a segway to a thing, but...whatever just play the music.
There is no music? Well then, what do I pay you for? Nonetheless here be my review:
I love a good cake. I know I've said this literally five seconds ago but I'm better than you, what can I say? Lots of things.
But I'll try to get to a point with this and not just goof off. The point of the whole cake fiasco is I'm doing one thing (a review) but with then I'm off talking about cake. We call that a tonal shift. And it's a major problem with your work.
You see, you start us off with a guy dead. Dead as a doornail. And our main character is all like: "Oh nos! I killed guy! Bad me! Bad me!" And then we're off to a waterfall WEEHEEHEEHEE HEEDY HEEDY HIDEY HOE! Then the pervy wolf is flirting with a single mom.
See what I mean? You start us off with something dark and dramatic and then suddenly we're in a Nicholas Sparks book. With wolves!
Other than that though, I didn't have much of a problem with the story, it was well told and overall pretty interesting. You definitely need to stay with a tone though, I mean wow O.o
Ahh yeah I know... But to clarify Asira isn't actually the mother, she adopted Carie.. I should've put that in there now that i think about it... I'm sorry I confused you.. And the shift.. I realize now how bad it actually is.. I'll be rewriting it soon now..
Beautiful work. I didn't go over it as far grammar/spelling go, but here's what I thought;
It's not clear what the characters are in the beginning, not at all. Perhaps an intro like "oh hey I'm a wolf" would clear things up, or perhaps something like "the dead wolf on the ground.." Honestly, I thought they were cats in the beginning - until the whole water thing with the river.
I loved the names. So unique, but a couple of the are similar - like Carie and Calin. It confused me a bit, but I got the hang of it.
Other than that, good job! I loved it! :3 Keep writing for us all!
Yeah, I'll fix that for you. I apologize about the names as well. I needed names and I really liked the names Carie and Calin, so I decided to you use them..
