I sit alone at lunch.
Thinking of pink hair and green eyes.
You and I both agreed to separate.
It was so our friendship wouldn't crash and burn.
We'd already nearly fallen to pieces repeatedly.
Different highschools, we agreed.

Now,
I
Wish
I'd
Stayed
With
You

I sit alone at lunch

You send me pictures of you hanging out with your friends

Everyone buddies up in class and I'm left to stand in the middle of the desks

You tell me all about how you and your friend worked on the group project together.

I nearly punch seniors in the face after they start calling freshmen who move up to sophomore and junior classes, like me, horrible names.

You tell me all about how you and this senior are besties.

I
Miss
You

But I can't tell you that.
You'd think we're back to October.
When I had feelings for you.

While you dated this shitty guy.

Now that shitty guy is dating your ex-best friend.

Now your ex-best friend ditched me for that shitty guy.

Now, I'm sitting alone at lunch.
Thinking of pink hair and green eyes.
And crying all over my chicken sandwich.

the feeling of being left alone, betrayed by your one and only friend is really the worst. Sometimes you wish everything could stay the way it was on the first day of high school. You wish you could remain friends, spend more time with them before they find their own group of friends and leave you. But that's life, different people will come and go in your life and you can't stop it. That's why, i hope everyone meets nice and good people in their lives!!

I like how realistic & simplistic it is. i can relate to a certain extent, well atleast the main theme? i think it's pretty out there that this is probably about feeling lonely and sort of left out i think? not so confident about the left out part but i think lonely could make sense. it's not really pleasant to feel liek that imo, but anyways, good poem! i won't really recommend any corrections or stuff cus i really dont think there's any particular "right way" for poetry, so, keep writing & keep up the good work, good day!
