Lana had been struggling with this feeling for quite a while now. No one knew. She smiled every day; she laughed and joked with her friends. She seemed like the happiest person ever. But she wasn’t. She was dying inside, and just knew how to hide it from everyone. No one noticed. Not her friends or family, or her teachers. No one. And even if they did, they wouldn’t understand. They’d say they would but they wouldn’t. They wouldn’t know how it felt to hurt so much, to be completely tired of living. They’d ask her why. They’d ask what had started this. But Lana didn’t know. She didn’t know why she felt that way, she just did. And had for a long time…
Lana’s alarm clock went off on Monday morning, and she slowly raised herself up in bed and turned it off. “Here we go again,” she sighed, peeling back the covers and getting up. She stumbled into the bathroom and switched on the tap. She pushed her hands under the cold stream and splashed it onto her face. Lana turned off the tap, placed her hands on the edge of the sink and looked into the mirror. “You’re worthless,” she murmured. “You’re ugly. No one likes you, you know. No one cares about you.” Lana’s grip on the sink tightened, and she pushed back off it. Back in her room, Lana got dressed and did her hair. “Why do I bother?” she muttered. “Whatever I do I look stupid.” Then she brushed her teeth and threw her school bag over her shoulder. “Bye Mum!” she yelled as she left the house. A little way down the road, Lana met up with her best friend Steph. “Hi Lana!” Steph grinned. “Hey Steph!” Lana smiled back. The two of them continued the walk to school together…
Lana ran back home after school finished and flew into her room, slamming the door shut behind her. She threw herself onto her bed and cried into her pillow. All the nasty comments of the day floated around in her head. ‘Idiot!’ ‘Lesbian!’ ‘Fat!’ ‘No one likes you Lana!’ ‘Why don’t you just go die somewhere, huh? Do us all a favour!’ ‘Slut!’ ‘Ugly!’ ‘Attention seeking whore!’ Lana started crying harder. Attention seeker? What were they talking about? It wasn’t her fault! Actually, it was theirs. Why were they being so unfair? Lana sat up and wiped the tears from her cheeks. She rolled up the sleeve of her school jumper, revealing the scars there. Then she drew the blade out from under her pillow and hovered it above her skin. She took a deep breath and brought the blade down to meet her skin, then slowly pulled back. She swallowed as the blood began to flow and made another cut. Each cut she murmured another insult. “Idiot. Stupid. Fat. Ugly. Attention seeker.” Finally, Lana put the blade down on her bedside table with her hands trembling and wiped away the blood.

gaurav is here for his short review of this prose piece for creativitea! .
First of all I am a beginner in this field and new to this site. Do not mind if I make any mistake while reviewing. So without wasting any second let us begin our short journey. Hehe !
In the first Paragraph i noticed some grammatical mistakes which are very minor and can be corrected if you revise it once again. Some punctuation error are there but again they are also very few in number. I like the way you've written this part of the story. I was completely lost, lost in the positive sense into the plot. I was like " ohh no why is she cutting her skin somebody stop her!" anyway. The flow of the story is great and I personally like the theme of the story. I hope you continue this story as I am pretty sure that something amazing is on its way.
Keep writing and all the best
Keep up the good work

Hey there! Okay, so I'll start with some nitpicks and then expound upon the general idea.
The first page and paragraph are arguably some of the most important parts of a story or novel. Your hook will ideally rest somewhere within the first paragraph - heck, the first sentence if possible - and if it can't find a place there it must, must, must come within the first few pages. In any case, you want a strong start to your novel, whereas this sounds like a rough synopsis rather than a story. Make sure to open it in a natural and appealing way.
The intro to the second paragraph isn't any better. Don't start with the typical morning thing - how tired is that? I could probably name ten books or movies with that opening ploy, and while it's a lazy way to get your information out, it's overworked and tired and not at all appealing to read. You also rush quite a lot and basically the only thing we really get to know about your character is that she's got an unpleasantly low level of self-worth that is, quite frankly, unappealing and irritating. While you can write a character with low self-esteem, you must also give us an empathetic link to hold onto, and it's wise to make her likable. Her low level of self-worth can be portrayed in a more subtle and understandable way later.
Then you kind of jump-cut to the end of school and we see her throwing a pity-party again. Now don't get me wrong, I've been the bullied kid and it isn't fun, but she seems to have reached that point where you just want to shake her and say "STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!" Your character needs a little strength behind her attitude. She needs to be something beyond her rejection and hatred. Give her more substance, more likability, and more character. She's in a position where we have to empathize to care about the story, so keep that in mind.
Well that was a lot of stuff, but anyway, I hope this helps!
Keep writing, and best wishes. xxx
