Call up your friends! Call up your Child!
Widen your ears to an idea that's wild!
Magic is real, please see there is truth in these words,
Magic is as real as the beasts and the birds!
~
But can I use this magic of mine to draw a fire from snow?
Or perhaps be able to freeze a moth from across a meadow?
Can it make a man disappear, or pull a rabbit from a hat?
Pull a quarter from your ear, can it do anything like that?
~
No, it cannot I sincerely regret to inform,
but do meet me halfway and let your conundrums reform.
This magic can start a fire in your soul and chill your hair without a touch,
it can have your fears disappear and pull you from your deepest darkest clutch.
~
This magic I speak of without hesitation,
Is Music, the greatest of all life’s liberations!
As you can see, music influences us every single day,
It’s been here since the dawn of time and forever shall it stay.
~
Each strum is a cast, each note is a spell,
Enchantment emits from the rings of a bell!
See each street performer as a diviner or a conjurer,
listen for the great storm coming from their immense brass thunderer!
~
See a music teacher as an apprentice seeking mentor!
A radio DJ giving your passion a spellbinding restore!
There the joyous choir harmoniously casts a potent bewitch,
Marching bands spawning tempests from a perfected pitch!
~
Music fills empty souls with the ilustrious fires of passion,
drowns faces with sadness in a most melancholy fashion!
Yet the most magical aspect we are privileged to identify,
is that the endowment of music resides within you and I!

Hello JeffRWoodridge!!

This is Eros here to write a review to your work!!
So, now, let us start with the title. The title is very true, and related with the poem. It is true that music is the magic of all. The most lovely thing about this poem written by you is, that it as got a rhyming scheme of aa bb cc dd.... It is really tough to write a rhyming poem with a meaning. I appreciate you for that. I am stunned by the stunning style of writing of yours! I am left speechless with this uique piece. I like the choice of words.
I agree with what you say of music. Music is really great! It helps us to vope up with stress. Music helps us to releive from stress and tension. It is an outlet to our emotions and feelings. It is a good source of enteratainment.
I love the last stanza:
"Music fills empty souls with the ilustrious fires of passion,
drowns faces with sadness in a most melancholy fashion!
Yet the most magical aspect we are privileged to identify,
is that the endowment of music resides within you and I!"
It has got a very very deep meaning and a good music-soul connections are describe beautifully here.
Overall, a GREAT work!!

Hey there!
For me music is life. I sincerely love it. And you calling it as the greatest magic of all time- well its appreciated. I loved the flow of your poem, its really beautiful.
Music is something which all of us relate to, it connects with us humans on levels that we can never imagine. So first I would like to thank you for writing this as a tribute to it.
I like the way you des eibe magic in the first few stanzas. And you know when I finally figured you were writing about music I was sort of surprised , Caz I thought you were gonna go on telling about magic
Anyway what I basically wanted to say was that I lived this. And I hope to she more of your work in future.
Happy review day
Fangirl~
Hey there Jeff!
I liked how you started out this poem by just talking about magic, and how you later made the connection that music is magic. It was nice to not have that analogy (?) thrown into my face from the beginning, but instead I got to see your thought process and the connections you made.
A bit on rhythm and flow:
The 3rd line in your first stanza seems a bit words, and I feel it breaks up the flow since it has too many syllables. My suggestion: "Magic is as real as you reading these words." The "as the eyes," I think, is what trips me up.
Now it may just be a pet-peeve or preference of mine, but the inconsistency in the syllable count in each line kind of bothers me. While there still is a flow to the words, it certainly takes more effort to catch on to (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it distracted me from the actual content). I guess I'm used to things being more uniform or following some sort of pattern, which you didn't seem to do.
I do appreciate, however, that you kept up a consistent AA,BB,CC,DD,etc rhyme scheme throughout your whole poem. There were a few words that seemed a little bit a stretch though - some sounded more like half-rhymes (but I guess pronunciation also affects the sound of the rhyme). For example: conjurer, and thunderer both end in "rer," but... it's just a little off. Or "identify," and "I." That one I was like... eeeeeeh??? *shrugging* Didn't seem like a rhyme? But hey, I'm no poet expert. Although if you're going to have a rhyme scheme I would be careful to stick to it, but at the same time, make sure not to sacrifice meaning for a good rhyme. It's a difficult balance to keep, to be honest.
One last little note: I'm not really sure why you used the "~" to separate the stanzas. I don't know if it's a stylistic or aesthetic thing, but I think the poem stands alone just fine without them.
Your poem was sweet, though! Have fun writing, and I hope this helps some.
Thank you very much for your criticism! I agree the third line is hesitating so I put it as I see fit. As far as the consistency of syllables I see a more contrasting syllable count adds on to the dynamic of the theme of the poem, it's a more unique taste and I couldn't see a repetitive pattern fit it as well.
Ah, alright! Cool~
I like your change in line 3 much better! Nice job!
