“If I spoke of my grief then it would be yours.” ~Sophocles

A question.

A thought.

An answer.

A boy once asked why I’m so quiet.

I thought for a moment.

I told him I had nothing interesting to say.

A teacher once asked why never talk in class.

I thought for a moment.

I told here I could never come up with a good answer.

A parent once asked why I don’t play with other kids.

I thought for a moment.

I told him I didn’t have any fun games to share.

My mother once asked me why I don’t talk at the dinner table anymore.

I thought for a moment.

I told her I didn’t have any happy news to share.

My therapist once asked me why I never talk about my sister.

I thought for a moment.

I told her I didn’t want to sadden anyone.

I once asked myself why I don’t have any friends.

I thought for a moment.

I told myself I didn’t want to share this pain inside of me with anyone.

This is a good but sad poem. Thanks for sharing this with us. It's good they way it is but to really get a good reaction out of the reader. You should tell them what the pain is. I know that might be asking a lot of you but if you're ready and willing to put yourself out there. I think that it would add a whole new level to your writing.

Hi HarshLynx!

Your poem is simple. Just like my how I do mine. Though I am not that expert in Narrative poetry but I will try my best.

The question: one does not want to share his/her pain. The thought: the events that happened to the character and how he/dealt with them so as not to let them know of the pain. The answer: in the end, the character chooses not to share whatever burden he/she has.

In short, the goal (take into consideration the feelings of others so as not to involve other people and not harm them) was delivered well. I would also suggest that you make events connected to each other(a focused story). For that reason, the 'story' became desolate, I mean, it was given all But it lacks emotion. Well, that is just a suggestion afterall. I am a writer that loves to tread the practical ways. I make it simpler. A suggestion is only a suggestion.

I also wanted to point out some small corrections. e.g. the part with a teacher.

(A teacher once asked why -I- never talk in class.)
Lacks I.

(I told -here- I could never come up with a good answer.)
I guess that was a typo. That is the only part where I got confused.

This is very interesting. A very organised poem, this is. I really appreciate your use of Refrain.

The order in which the person asking the question could not have been better, it is absolutely perfect. Keep writing like this.
Best of luck.

Hi there!
The way you have brought the stages boy-parents-therapist-yourself is soo good.
As a poem i completely appreciate your effort but if this happening to you i'm disappointed.
If you are enjoying the way you are,you would never question yourself(the point you've mentioned in the last 3 lines). Please try to change your perspective of life, you can't be sad on a particular thing for your entire life.whatever the reason might be move on.I know it's hard to,but start appreciating yourself and your surroundings.
I'm not sure if this poem is about your life,if it's not please ignore all these and i really appreciate your work.
keep writing, Keep appreciating yourself,Keep living!
