Author's Note: Hey, people! This is a fanfiction short centered around Elsa from Disney's Frozen. If you haven't seen it, this may be a spoiler. I just saw it last night and couldn't contain my urge lol. It's possibly my favorite animated movie of all time. Also, this contains some darker, more dramatic themes, but I think it adds to what made Elsa such a great character. Anyways, Enjoy! :D

Cold.

"Elsa, please come out. I want to see you. Why don't you ever want to be with me?" The weary princess heard her sister's voice falter as she struggled to hold back her unwelcome tears.

"Come on, Elsa," she whispered to herself, "Just be quiet. She'll go away soon. Conceal it, don't feel it." As she carefully stood up from the marble floor, Elsa could hear Anna begin to cry softly. "Why, she thought, "does she keep on coming back? I'll only hurt her again...All I've ever done is hurt her." The white-haired princess sighed deeply as she quietly backed away from the towering wooden doors. Elsa felt her muscles tighten and her pulse quicken as her sister began to speak again.

"Please, Elsa," cried Anna, "Just let me see you. Just for a minute." The sound of her estranged sister's voice was nothing short of pitiful. No matter how hard she tried, Elsa could not shake the feeling that Anna was not going to go away any time soon. She would have to take the offensive. Anna pressed her ear to the door as she awaited her sister's reply.

"Listen, Anna," began Elsa, "You have to go away. It's for the better. Just make this easier for both of us and leave." The cursed princess was surprised at the brevity with which she had uttered these words. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath in an attempt to compose herself for what she would have to say to Anna next, no matter her sister's response. Anna gently wiped her eyes and cleared her throat before speaking. There was a renewed air of resolute dignity in her voice.

"You know it doesn't have to be this way, Elsa. We can be together again...just like normal sisters. But you have to take the first step. You have to come out of there!" Elsa jerked back in astonishment at the resolve in her sister's plea. Was she right in telling her to leave her be? It didn't matter. This was what she had to do to protect her sister and to protect Arendelle. It was what she has always done. She was a danger to this world, and no pair of gloves or even an empty title could ever change that. The torn princess mustered all of her might as she began in an apathetic tone.

"No, Anna. As your incumbent queen, I order you to leave me be. Goodbye."

"But-"

"Goodbye." Elsa struggled to hold back her own tears and swallowed the lump in her throat as she heard her sobbing sister back away from the door and run down the hallway. She turned to face the vanity mirror at the other end of her room and noticed a single shining tear making its way down her pale cheek. Elsa gently wiped it away before taking a seat in front of the mirror. Her lips began to quiver and her vision became blurred by warm, salty liquid. "What are you doing, Elsa?" she scolded herself, "Stop crying. Conceal it, don't feel it. Conceal it, don't feel it." Her efforts to conceal her emotions were futile, and she began to cry even harder. Elsa shook her head in disdain as she looked into her gloved hands. Never before had she hated them so passionately. Without a moment's hesitation, the young princess removed them one by one and flung them against a small oval portrait of she and Anna with their mother and father. When she looked up into the mirror a second time, all she could see was a monster.

"How could you?" she spat at her reflection, "How could you do that to Anna again? You always do that! You try so hard not to hurt her with this curse that you hurt her even more with your words! You really do have a heart of ice!" By now, an unrelenting blizzard had developed within her soul and within her bedroom. Elsa began to shiver and her pale hands began to turn blue. How could she have let her emotions get the best of her? She would have to make this right.

Still shivering, the frightened girl stood up from her seat in front of the vanity mirror and ran over to pick up her gloves. She carefully slipped them on and wiped the sticky dampness from her face. "Okay, Elsa," she whispered to herself, "Just breathe deeply." She squeezed her eyes shut and imagined that she was with her sister. Elsa saw them building snowmen together and frolicking in the snow just the way it used to be. The howling of the wind began to abate and Elsa stopped shivering. When she opened her eyes again, it seemed as though everything was back to normal. The only exception was the oval portrait of she and her family. It had been knocked to the floor by the icy winds. Her icy winds. Elsa covered her mouth in astonishment as she made her way over to the fallen painting. As she turned it over, she was shocked to find a large, jagged crack running down its center between she and Anna. "Goodness," she sighed, "I'm sorry." There was no response. Only the unbroken silence of her room kept her company. Elsa held the portrait close to her heart and began to cry once again. It felt warm. A light blanket of powdery snow began to accumulate upon the marble floor. "I'm sorry, Anna," she whispered through a series of barely audible sobs, "I'm sorry my heart is just so...cold."

Interesting, same theme as "Vicky.....Not so Icky?" Except this time the one hurting hasn't intentionally tried to kill anything, and people try to give her a chance. Not that I don't think it's a good theme, but after a while it's gonna get worn out. It's good to have some of that aspect in a story, but you shouldn't base too many stories around a theme like that. In my opinion you'd probably be really good at writing surprise endings. Anyways, keep writing! =^_^=

Hiya whowhatwherewhenwhy. (Creative? Nope!) This is a person who is apparently not creative here to review a story called Cold (Cold? Is this because Frozen is already restricted by Disney?) And of course its not. I'm sorry :). Anyway onto the reviews! (Aren't I confusing.)

Compliments! The spice of your ego, my ego, other peoples ego. First off I like your flow of words. For example when you say, "Why, she thought, "does she keep on coming back? I'll only hurt her again...All I've ever done is hurt her." Despite whatever the Seinfeld person said (Seinfeld WOO) I believe this is is a nice little sentence. It flows, like a nose! (So very very creative) Why yes i know I'm horrible at similes. Anyway, onto criticism!

First, i don't like your sentence here...wait no, its over here

"You try so hard not to hurt her with this curse, that you hurt her even more with your words."

I found it! Anyway, i don't like where you put that comma. It breaks the sentence and hurtles into confusion! Weeeee!

Anyway i hope you found this helpful! And if you didn't then i hope i was annoying! (No i don't) Bye!

BTW: I'm not a big frozen fan. I'm sorry if this is bad :)

Bad? Nope. Completely confusing and slightly alarming? Yes. It's okay tho...thanks I guess...

Hi! Sorry for intruding, I'm the "Seinfeld person" (it's Lucrezia by the way), and I didn't say that was a bad sentence. I said that the punctuation was off, and also that it should be written in italics. Those are technical mistakes, nothing more. If I thought it was a bad sentence, I would've said as much.

Sorry, just wanted to point that out. :)

Sorry bout that Lucrezia. My bad. :) no hard feelings

Hi! Lucrezia here for a review.

Admittedly, I don't care much for fanfics, though I had to check this out since I'm a huge Frozen fan. And let me tell you—this is amazing. I couldn't stop reading.

You captured the characters so well! All their dialogue seemed unique, yet at the same time like it could've easily come from the actual movie. How you represented Elsa was spot-on, and I'm glad it focused mainly on her (of course, I'm a bit biased since she's my favorite character).

The wording was perfect, as well as the details/descriptions. Pacing was solid. I saw no real errors, no spelling typos or anything like that, which is awesome in itself. This has to be one of the better Frozen fanfics I've read.

Amazing job.

I'm only going to point out two nitpicks since I'm in a rush.

"Why," she thought, "Does she keep on coming back? I'll only hurt her again...All I've ever done is hurt her."

Instead of quotation marks, since she's thinking this and not saying it, I'd swap them out for italics. Also, the D in "does" shouldn't be capitalized since you put a comma after the first bit of dialogue ("why") and after "she thought."

I'm sorry my heart is just so...cold."

I think you forgot the first quotation mark at the beginning of this, in front of "I'm." ;)

Otherwise, fantastic. This was just so much fun to read. Well done and keep up the great work! :D

Thanks for pointing those things out. :) In all honesty, I often neglect to edit works after I've read comments and suggestions just because I forget or am working on other stuff, but I'll definately take the time to fix this fixer-upper if you will! :D *pun*

Also, thanks, a lot for the compliments! :D I'm really glad you liked it and I'm also really glad to have found another Frozen fanatic! :) It really is such an amazing film and Elsa is such an amazing character! I love them all I guess, but she's the ICE-ing on the cake. *another pun* U got a follow comin' XD.

*cough. Pun indeed...

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.
