Don't touch my book
Or you will see
How catastrophic
That can be
~~
Don't touch my book
Or you will die
Then your parents
Will surely cry
~~
Don't touch my book
Or I will bite
You might get rabies
So wrap it up tight
~~
Don't touch my book
Isn't it clear
That it can be fatal
It doesn't take a seer
~~
Don't touch my book
How many times must I say
It's not healthy
You'll be bedridden till May
~~
Don't touch my book
Someone once did
I put them in a jar
And closed the lid
~~
Don't touch my book
Now you can see
How catastrophic
That can be
~~
Bottom line
I'll say it once more
Don't touch my book
You have been warned.

I absolutely love it! Hahaha, I feel exactly the same way! I hat people taking my books except for my very close friends. The poem is simple and straightforward and no grammatical mistakes.........and I love the first paragraph, simple but telling everything.

In the last paragraph, however, you could have rhymed it by making up something like this:
'Bottom line,
I'll say it once more
Don't touch my book,
Or you'll see blood and gore'
See? It's your poem, anyhow. I'm just suggesting
Really good job! I look forward to seeing more of your work.
IT DOESN'T TAKE A SEER. Hahaha, than line reminded me of Professor Trelawney.
Keep it up!

Haha. This is such a light-hearted poem! It made me smile. I liked your rhyming scheme. It was very natural and seemed effortless. The exaggerated threats and the dramatic style of this poem has made it an enjoyable read.
Well done, and keep writing!
Hi Dear Firelight!!
This is Eros here tp review your work!!
I read your humouros poem "Dont Touch my book". It is really nice and I had funn readind it. It was about what you can do to the one who touches yoor book. You can bite them, or kill them or ven put them in a jar and close the lid. It was full of un and amusement. I enjoyed reading it.
You have done a great job!
Keep writing!
Hahaha! Love this poem I must give you some tips though. First off your last four stanzas...when you put:

"Bottom line
I'll say it once more
Don't touch my book
You have been warned."
You kind of made the flow stop when you put "Bottom line" it kind of makes it choppy. But you could put a colon after bottom line and that would make it better. Second I would change to title to don't touch my "book" because you say that instead of "books". But I love this poem! Keep writing and don't get discouraged!

Hi Firelight,
I love love loved this poem! I hate it when people touch my book, and can relate to the exaggerated threats. This is something I would definitely do! This seems stated so calmly, it just adds to the effect of the poem.
Now I know this doesn't matter, and I'm sorry but I just happened to notice that your title said books (plural) while there is only ever one book in the poem. I know, I know, but it was there and I just thought I'd mention it.
The last part of this stanza was a bit odd:
Wrap it up tight? I know that you wanted it to rhyme, but what did you want to wrap up tight? The finger touching the book? The book itself? I might instead say, "So you'd better take flight" so that it still rhymed but made sense. Did that make sense?
This was probably my favorite line. I love how throughout the poem you are warning the reader how stupid he/she for wanting to touch the narrator's book. It is very easy to imagine someone saying this. Great job! Hopefully I'll get a chance to read some more of your works.
Happy writings!

Thanks for the review! I haven't really written much poetry, but I hope to maybe dabble in it a little more this year

Hello Firelight, xJ here to review your poem.
First of all, I'd like to know the big deal about this "book." Because I believe It's a bit unreasonable to do these sorts of things to a person just because they touched your book. Or maybe this was a friendly joke? I'm not sure, but that is just my opinion.
Onto the nitpicks,
I thought stanza 2 was a bit "dumb." I do realize you thought of this off the top of your head, but I still think it needs some constructive criticism, just like every piece of work needs. (Mostly I'm trying to save you from the green room but anyway), I thought this stanza was the most simple of the poem. Anyone could think of that, honestly.
In stanza 3, you said you had rabies xD And hopefully you actually don't! Oh, and good use of the words "seer" and "bedridden." Kudos for that.
I like the repetition of "Don't touch my book Now you can see How catastrophic That can be." But overall, I don't think this should've been the subject. Books in general don't really have a personal connection with you. I would think this poem were to be about a priceless family object and such. But that is simply my opinion. Disagree with me if you like.
May your travels through space and time be merry,
-xJ ❤︎
Thanks for the review! There really isn't any value to the book, it's just a book, but I wrote this to be humorous, and a bit exaggerated, because I really don't like it when people touch my books (but I think that's obvious from the subject matter)
Oh god, I dislike people who touch my book too (well, except those who borrow it). I fear they would harm it. This poem is very relatable to me.

It's scary, however. The warnings, I mean. I especially like this stanza:
"Don't touch my book
Someone once did
I put them in a jar
And closed the lid"
As it brings an effect less severe at first to those who touch the book before landing an effect that could be interpreted as many things. "And closed the lid" seems a murder action to me. I like how it comes off as a violent surprise without appearing violent.
I like the rhythm too. Most of the time it is not forced, and that makes my reading more pleasant and less disturbed.
This is a good poem overall. Keep up the good job.
Thanks for the review!
