The War Machine-Intro

by EverLight

Note: I got some, (Cough) information about how Hollywood scriptwriters write movie scripts, and I decided to write a script for my own. It may seem boring, and repetitive, but remember, your trying to show scenes on paper-so it'll be dull, until those paper scenes are made into a movie. With that understood....

We see an alleyway between two brick houses. Alleyway is dark and eerie. A tall, muscular man (Cordio) enters alleyway wearing a dark cloak and carrying a cat carrier. He halts by a brick building and knocks on brick. A metal booth opens up. Behind booth stands lean man (Dr. Stein) with wild white hair, black gloves, and a white coat. The man sets carrier on booth counter.

Dr. Stein

Evening Cordio. What project have you for me today?

Cordio leans against booth legs crossed.

Cordio

The boys and I plan to destroy two towers tonight- the Discovery Tower and the Gandee Tower. The problem is we don't have a weapon with enough power to destroy them. I figured you could help with that.

Cordio sets carrier on the booth.

Cordio

Can you turn a cat into a weapon?

Dr. Stein opens the carrier door and drags out a long-haired white cat. Cat struggles and hisses but is held down.

Dr. Stein

(Evil laugh) What a fine subject you'll be. Easy to work with I'm sure.

Dr. Stein looks back at Cordio, plucking cats fur.

Dr. Stein

To answer your question, I certainly can turn a cat into a weapon. Just tell me what kind you need.

Cordio

Any kind of weapon will do. Just make sure it can destroy buildings.

Dr. Stein scratches chin for a moment then grins ominously

Dr. Stein

How about a War Machine?

Cordio laughs

Cordio

Perfect. So how much will that cost?

Dr. Stein (darkly)

Oh, there'll be a price alright. (faint laugh) but we shall discuss it when your machine is ready.

Cordio nods

Cordio

It's a deal.

Cordio slowly walks away. Dr. Stein watches him and gives a maniacal laugh.

...

We see the white cat surrounded in glowing blue liquid, and covered in wires. The blue liquid turns to green. Electricity sparks through wires. Cat yowls in agony. (HellCat's Theme music plays.) Zoom in, and move along, the cats body showing the formation of white metal scales. Zoom out. The Cat is completely made of metal, that is arranged in a tabby pattern-red with black stripes. The Cat stirs. The wires fly off. The cat lifts his head, and opens eyes. Its eyes are large, and glow with an evil glint. Zoom in on eyes. Eyes blink. (Theme music ends)We fade into the next scene.

We see Cordio walk down to the end of alleyway. Cordio taps his foot against a brick and a tunnel opens up. The tunnel is made of iron with grated metal floors. Cordio enters tunnel and walks straight down it for a while then turns left into a room. The room is fancy with white walls and highly polished floors. At the end of the room is a fireplace. Next to the fireplace are two tan armchairs. One armchair faces Cordio. The other faces away. Slowly the armchair facing away from Cordio turns towards him revealing Dr. Stein, who has a carrier on his lap.

Dr. Stein

Have a seat

Cordio walks over to the empty chair and sits down.

Cordio

Is my weapon ready?

Dr. Stein

Oh it's more than ready

Dr. Stein opens carrier and a strange cat-like creature (The Hellcat) leaps out. The creature has long thin legs, and a tail with an arrow at its end. Its face is narrow and angular with giant ears. Its body is red with black vein-like stripes, and very thin. Its eyes are large and glow with intense evil.

Dr. Stein grins broadly

Dr. Stein

I give you the HellCat!

Cordio looks at The HellCat then at Dr. Stein.

Cordio

That name has been taken-

Dr. Stein waves hand

Dr. Stein

But the name is no less suitable.(Voice raising then falling manically)  The HellCat is indestructible. The HellCat is capable of reaching speeds faster than light. The HellCat has any power you could imagine!!!

Cordio laughs

Cordio

I ask for a weapon to destroy a building, and you give me the ultimate War Machine. You sure know how to satisfy customers.

Cordio's face grows serious

Cordio

How much does this kitty cost? A million dollars? A billion? A trillion?

Dr. Stein laughs a dark grin spreading across his face. Fire flickers out faintly, shadowing his face eerily.

Dr. Stein

Oh, this kitty costs more than money can pay. In fact, this kitty costs the destruction of the world.

Cordio

You drive a hard bargain.

Dr. Stein

You have your weapon. All I ask is that it be used for the purpose it was made for.

Cordio nodds, a slow grin spreading on his face.

Cordio

I see. You have yourself a deal.

Dr. Stein shoves Hell Cat into Carrier and hands carrier to Cordio.

Dr. Stein

Be cautious-Once the HellCat destroys those towers, only a diet of destruction will fill him, and you could be a part of that diet.

Cordio

I get it-once a weapon always a weapon.

Cordio rises from chair shakes hands with Dr. Stein

Cordio

A pleasure as always.

Dr. Stein

The pleasure is mine.

Cordio nods and slowly walks down the hall and disappears. Dr. Stein laughs.

Dr. Stein

World beware! The HellCat is coming! And all your mighty heroes and noble armies will not stop him from burning you to ash!

Lifts hands into the air manically and screeches with laughter, laughter takes on echoing quality and fades. Everything fades to black.

. . .

This is so cool! I want to be an actress (I’d love to be a marvel villain someday) I have always wondered how movie scripts work, and I get it now. I may try writing one of my own. Thanks for the tea!
I would love to see this as a movie or play one day. It is a very interesting and introduction into the movie.

-If I am for the axe, then for mercy sake just swing it.
Thought I’d end this with a quote from my fave marvel villain (Loki)

EverLight says...

You love Loki! So do I!! Oh, and thanks for your review.

EverLight says...

BTW, I don't see Loki as a villain. He's more of a in-between.

LadyMysterio says...

Yes same idk why I said villain, he was bbeing mind controlled in avengers and Odins horrible parenting skills, didn%u2019t help.

EverLight says...

Yep. Exactly.

LadyMysterio says...

There is a loki series coming out in 2021 in the spring. I am so excited.
I am guessing ur fave marvel charcter is Star Lord?

EverLight says...

No-it's Rocket Raccon, Gamora, and Dr. Strange.

LadyMysterio says...

Cool, Dr strange is on my list of favorites, you can't have one fave character in marvel.

EverLight says...

True that.

EverLight says...

Dr. Strange however is at the top of my Favorite Avengers list.

LadyMysterio says...

yeah, Loki is at the top of mine.

EverLight says...

I guessed that already.

Hey, Katnes!

This is a fun concept for a TV show! It's kinda got that silly superhero/supervillain feel to it. You did well setting up the environments and making sure to emphasize certain details about each set. That's incredibly important to ensure any potential symbolism isn't forgotten during production, like a fluffy white cat of purity and innocence is morphed into a dark and metallic beast of hellish hunger.

I hope my use of the word 'silly' doesn't turn you off, though. Superhero logic has always been rather silly and outlandish, but we all kind of accept that for what it is and enjoy it nonetheless! And what really solidified that opinion is Dr. Stein's price for the HellCat. It's just pure silliness to demand the destruction of the world when they themselves live on this world! But that provides enough intrigue to wonder if perhaps he's alien or if he skipped a minute detail like he planned to escape before it happened.

And what's interesting STILL is that Cordio seemed perfectly okay with it! It definitely sounded like Cordio and his team are assassins of a sort, intending to wreak havoc on a couple of mysterious towers for an unknown reason. And then when Dr. Stein requested that the world be destroyed for the price of creating this HellCat to destroy the towers, Cordio was just like "lulz okay leggo!" I wonder why! Does Cordio also feel like this world is expendable? Perhaps he plans to escape before it's gone, too?! It's very intriguing and just flat out silly, but I look forward to learning why these characters are okay with this plan! What motivates them to do these things? How did they end up in this position? Why don't they care about human life at all?!

The doctor's pitch for the HellCat was instantly suspicious, so hopefully that was what you were going for. Cordio asked for a weapon that would destroy two towers. When he returns to collect, Dr. Stein pitches this HellCat that's faster than light. Speed doesn't really have that much to do with destroying towers, unless the plan is to zip in, plant a bomb, and zip out as quick as lightning. It's intriguing, to say the least, but didn't seem relatable at all to the situation. Of course, Dr. Stein IMMEDIATELY follows up with a "ANY POWER YOU CAN IMAGINE!!" which instantly brings back the silliness of the genre and made me giggle. Why ask Cordio what kind of weapon he wants and then turn around and make a weapon that can do whatever he wants?!

This was a fun read and introduces a lot of intrigue to a very nice setup. I'd have liked to see a little more scenery, like if it's a sci-fi world, futuristic, modern, fifty years in the past -- little hints like that which could help introduce the setting. I have lots of questions for the plot that could potentially be answered in future segments, so no major turn-offs there! I can totally see this as a cartoonish webseries, and I can tell you had fun writing it.

Keep writing!

Jabber, the One and Only!

EverLight says...

Yes, this is cartoonish isn't it? LOL!!! I had TONS of fun writing this. Don't worry the word silly didn't throw me off. Thanks for your reivew.

EverLight says...

I'm glad you got some good laughs out of this.

As for his Pitch for the HellCat...well I'll tell you one thing-Dr. Stein has plans of his own, and you never trust a crazy Doctor. (;
