Chapter 3: Volcano of anger.

Friendship of Tamao and Michiko increased day by day. Michiko started to feel free with Tamao especially from the day she started to share the desk with him.

Tamao observed that the situation was getting out of Michiko's control, day by day. One day, Michiko was involved in a big fight.

The matter was trivial. Ichiro, a black chubby little, rude girl dropped a fruit juice on Michiko's home assignment notebook accidentally.

The day when Michiko started to sit with Tamao, Ichiro and others never tried to trouble her. This time too, it was just an accident.

But Michiko was already in a bad mood since morning that day and morever being a clean freak, she couldn't bear her notebook getting messed up.

There were verbal fights at first. Michiko was losing her temper. She started using cuss words and abusive language and calling Ichiro, a bitch, a nincompoop and what not.

It was ok till the fight was just verbal. But when it drastically changed from mild cuss words to vulgar language to physical fights, Tamao couldn't dare to see it.

Michiko was scratching Ichiro with her long pointy nails, beating her hard with her elbows, making bleeding cuts, rough scratches and nail-digging impressions all over her hands and face, near the eye and on her neck, leaving her with no opportunity to fight back in defence. She kept punching her until Ichiro collapsed, unconscious for a few minutes.

Tamao ran and pulled Michiko back, in his strong arms, pressing her tightly to his chest and hugging her from behind, trying to stop the matter.

Tamao tried to solve the matter amongst themselves and he was successful in ceasing the matter there itselfz without the news being reached upto the teachers and consequently to the principal.

After school, Tamao stopped Michiko.

"Michiko, I need to talk to you." Tamao looked at her, with grave seriousness.

"Yes?" Michiko answered confidently.

"Tell me what is going on." Tamao said, in a demanding voice.

"About what?" Michiko shook her head, baffled.

"Why do you keep struggling with your feelings?" Tamao folded his hands.

"Oh ... that---" Michiko's lips quivered like before.

"Yes. Tell me." Tamao looked straight in her eyes.

"Ah. It is a long story ...come to my home, if your parents allow. I will make some cookies and I will tell you about it, while you savour it?"

"Umm... Not a bad idea. My parents? Yeah they'll of course allow me."

"See you, in the eve! About .. 5?" Michiko asked him

"Okay, done." Tamao showed her a thumbs up.

Review

Heya, Eros, Casanova here to do another review for you. Anyway, onward.

The first thing I noticed was that this chapter sorta went by too quickly, and that it wasn't in any sense long enough.

I think you should go into more detail about their friendship, how close they're getting, how they become close, and how they react. Go into details about this so the reader knows the relationship that they're dealing with. Is part of her anger directed at herself for liking him? Is it just a friendship? Is it something more? Do they think it can be something more? I mean, it would be nice to have a little bit more insight as to what is going on, but that's completely up to you.

Another thing I would like an insight to would be of Michikos life. At least, giving us a reason of why she's angry all the time, why she's letting accidents and stuff get to her when before she would let people get in her face, scream and curse, and throw stuff at her without doing anything about it. To me that seems like a major personality change that should be explained throughout the story, and not leave everything in the shadows, if that makes any sense.

But primarily I'm focusing on Tamao, and his character change, which seems to be sparked by Michiko. But this is just me and I could be completely wrong. Anyway, I think that's all I have, and I hope this helped.

Keep on doing what you're doing.

Sincerely, Casanova

This is Weirdo, here for a review. Please know that nothing in this review is meant to offend you or your story. This is just my opinion, you and other readers and reviewers could disagree. That being said, let us get into this review.

Grammar/Typos/Word check/Spell check/Sentence formation

Friendship of Tamao and Michiko increased day by day. Michiko started to feel free with Tamao especially from the day she started to share the desk with him.

*The friendship

But Michiko was already in a bad mood since morning that day and morever being a clean freak, she couldn't bear her notebook getting messed up.

*moreover,

Tamao tried to solve the matter amongst themselves and he was successful in ceasing the matter there itselfz without the news being reached upto the teachers and consequently to the principal.

*itself
*having the news reach the teachers

"Michiko, I need to talk to you." Tamao looked at her, with grave seriousness.

*you,

"Tell me what is going on." Tamao said, in a demanding voice.

*on,

"Yes. Tell me." Tamao looked straight in her eyes.

*me,"
*into

"Umm... Not a bad idea. My parents? Yeah they'll of course allow me."

*yeah, of course, they'll allow me

What else?

I have a lot of major criticism here.
Why does she being bullied just stop? Tamao likes peace, so it is not like the bullies were scared of him. If anything, Tamao would have increased the bullying. Let's face it, even if a guy and a girl are seen talking in a friendly way, everyone teases them that they are a couple. Why are there no rumours about Tamao at all?

How does Tamao have no friends? He is a jock, pop and nerd, all rolled into one. If anything, he would have at least two or three close friends.

If Michiko is so strong and can fight, why is she being picked on? Mostly, the people who can't defend themselves are targetted by bullies.

Also, this was very racist. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but you should change this as fast as you can.

The matter was trivial. Ichiro, a black chubby little, rude girl dropped a fruit juice on Michiko's home assignment notebook accidentally.

Hope this review helped.
-Weirdo

Actually one day she is meek and the other day she is strong ... Sometimes extremely anxious and sometimes full of tears. There's a problem with her... actually I wasn't getting any review on the chapters so I didn't publish the next chapters...and felt lack of motivation to complete the novel... But yeah, I will edit it or add about the reason why Tamao and Michiko aren't teased or perhaps I will change the story a bit and add a few incidents of teasing parts...

Thanks a lot for the review !

Don't stop writing, with work, this could be a great novel. Will certainly be looking forward to next part.

Thanks a lot !! You inspires me !! I won't stop now.

I'm back again~

Overall I like how this story is developing still. You're taking us through the beginning steps of a friendship, showing us the way that they interact in their own timid way, and you're building up Michiko as an emotional wreck. That development is also at a really good pace. You're on Chapter Three and already into your rising action of Michiko's problem, which is really good.

Here's what I found that I think needs some help.

"It was ok till the fight was just verbal."

So this sentence confused me in context. You said earlier that the fight was just verb, and now you're saying that it was okay until it was just verbal, that doesn't make sense because the fight was okay when it was verbal, but you're saying it wasn't okay when it was verbal. You're contradicting yourself. Instead, I think you mean "wasn't" just verbal or "it was okay until the fight became physical" which would get rid of the double negative problem.

Overall, I have noticed that your novel from chapter 1 through 3 includes some details that you don't really need, and I'm not talking about awkward prepositional phrases this time, I'm talking about Tamao's supposedly being perfect, and the red eyes from Chapter 1. As I don't see any more of this, and I've gotten a bit into the story, I'll just talk about it now.

If you intend to use his eyes changing color as a part of the story, it should be included in more chapters in minor ways to develop the idea that this kid is supernatural and can change his eye color at will with his emotions. If that's not the intent of that line, then change it from 'brick red' eyes to something more traditional. I mean, kids don't usually have red eyes. They have brown, and black, and blue, and so on and so forth, but red? Unless the person is an albino, that's not really going to happen. Now, if he IS an albino, more power to you, and leave it as is.

Next, you mention in the first chapter how Tamao is so perfect he's in sports, and great at everything. I really don't think that needs to be there. Tamao doesn't need to be in football, the top of his class, or the best at every instrument in order to have respect and fear from the school bullies. From personal experience with bullies, all you have to do to be ignored by them later, is put them in their place. If he did that when he was younger, like in pre-school, that could be how he's not touched by bullies. He might also just be a big guy. If he's a big guy, they're unlikely to touch him or talk to him regardless of what he can and cannot do, or how he is. Kids are intimidated by body size, so if he's a 5 ft 6th grader, and a 6"11 freshman, he's a big guy and that can protect him alone without any confrontation.

Storytelling tells us to remove anything we're not going to use in the story and so far, Tamao hasn't used the relationships he would get from being good at music or good at football and on the team. If he was chumming around with the other footballers due to their comradery from playing the sport, and he used that to stop some of them from picking on Michiko, then I would understand including it, but you isolated him from the footballers immediately by saying everyone sees him as competition, which is rarely true on a football team form my understanding. Anyone on a team tends to pack up because they spend so much time together during practice, on the bus to away games, and so forth. They look out for each other and rely on one another on and off the field.

So, if you never use these things again, I'd suggest you make Tamao more normal in order to encourage people to identify with him. Right now, I'm sort of lost about who Tamao is because he's this guy who does x, y, and z, but he doesn't Show that with how he's acting, we've just been told that.

I hope this gives you some new help~

No he wasn't supernatural ...his eyes were red in anger... Just that's it...

Thanks a lot for the review !! It was indeed, helpful and I realise it has a lot more scope for improvement...and I will surely edit a few parts...

So was it just a metaphor and not literal like I took it?

Yeah, exactly !

I'm getting nachos~
