The Barcode Tatoo

This is a great book! I just finished reading it a few days ago and thought I should recommend it. It's about a girl named Kayla. It's decades into the future and there's all this newly advanced technology. They've completely replaced cash with E-cards, and virtual reality is as normal to them as TV is to us. Recently, they've come out with this new thing called the barcode tattoo. Once you've turned 17 years old, you're allowed to get a tattoo of a barcode on your wrist. Who needs an e-card? Scan your barcode! Who needs to pull out a drivers lisence? Scan your barcode! It's easy, efficient, and will make life so much easier!

But what if you don't want to get the tattoo? Kayla didn't, and now she's being shunned from her society. What's REALLY behind the tattoo?

This is a great book, you've gotta read it :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

scasha, you had my hopes up for a second there because I thought you'd said it was by Scott Westerfeld, and I love his stuff. (Off topic, but So Yesterday? Totally awesome.)

This sounds a lot like Feed to me. I'll probably pick it up if they have it at the library.

Psssh, I've already seen a barcode tattoo.

And I bet "Jennifer Government" is a better book, too, though I can't say for sure, having never read this one.

I finished reading the series this past winter. Amazing! I liked what the barcodes ended up being used for - astonishing! I mean, I knew it was a future, but I didn't think it was that far into the future!

I loved this book too! Did you get to read the sequel? The barcode Revolution (I think that's the name).

I got my sister to read it. I love books like it, like Scott Westerfeld's series (Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras). Futuristic novels are amazing if the authors write is correctly.

I totally recommend it too!
