Love is normal,
No fairy tale no movie,
No explosions at heart,
Neither bursts of dreamy scenes,
So cheesy and make believe.
-
Love is normal,
Different than those flings,
And crushes since you can think,
It's an understanding as simple,
As one plus one equals two;
A notion as firm as,
Tomorrow's guaranttee.
-
Love is not like,
And nor like is love,
The two are as separated as,
The differences of black and white.
It's the notion of grey in people's minds,
That messes up the two different sides;
Or simply the lack of love in their life,
That makes them unaware of the line.
-
Love is normal,
As it should be,
For a human likes a human,
For countless reasons,
But loves only one,
For her allows him to be normal,
Even when the whole world judges him,
For his normal not being good enough.

Hey friend! First of all, I agree with what other reviewing have stated before me. I love the message that you convey in this poem. I feel like the world makes so much into nothing, or makes nothing into so much. I love the simplicity that you used in your words, describing love and relationship and freedom and how it is normal.
One thing I loved about this poem was how you played with reversing sentences to really give us that confused but moving forward, sort of feeling. We get so wrapped up in technicalities and specifics, that we don't spend enough time just feeling love and following where it leads us. I love this message and I feel like I could relate to the feeling that you presented very strongly. I sense almost some sort of disconnect or frustration too.
You have a really nice speaking tone in this. It feels relaxing, but confident. The simplicity is strong but powerful, just like your tone. These match up really well which is one reason why I found this poem so engaging. Overall, I love the message and the flow. I enjoyed reading this and hope to see more soon!
Your friend,
Ellie
Hello there!
Thank you so much for you kind words EllieMae! It really means a lot to me. Returning back to this site and to my work after a REALLY long time (sorry for the late reply%uD83E%uDEE0), it felt so good to see that I had a new review, and that my poem had not been buried into some deep hole of the internet. Looking back, the day I was writing this poem was is one the most memorable day of my life. I was feeling very sure of myself, and of my feelings that I had for certain someone. The fact that I could convey some of those feelings to you feels good. Even though that person actually turned me down afterwards%uD83D%uDE05, whenever I look back, I still feel good about those feelings and of this poem, and still remember them with peace and content.
Thank You!
I really like the message of this poem, especially since we tend to associate poetry with romanticism and very idealistic ideas of love. It was really clever to use poetry as the format to get this message across since it creates that unique contrast. I think the simple plainness of the language also goes well with the poem’s narrative content: Like love, it isn’t flowery or grandiose. Just remember that not every line needs to end with a comma or a semicolon, and also that semicolons and colons are distinct and should not be used interchangeably. Also agree with the previous reviewer about switching that “her” to “she.” Other than that, good job!
Hey Elsinore, thank you for your great review. i am happy to see that you also liked my poem. As for the thing you pointed out about the commas, and semi-colons, and colons, i would love if you could elaborate, or point it out in the poem where it could have been better. I scanned the poem and i don't see where i used or should have used the colon, and neither was I able to figure out the problem with the commas. But again, all I have is the writers POV and of course can miss what you people can catch. Therefore, i would be happy if you could tell me more.
Thanks!
Hello!
Ley here to review this piece for you!
First impressions...
I love any poem related to love. It's a super powerful thing, and it creates and draws out so many emotions that it sets the premise for a jaw dropping poem. And this was, indeed, it! The beginning of the poem captivated me, and I enjoyed how you compared love to other things in life. When I was reading this I felt...
Helpless, weak, in love, hypnotized. This poem is the perfect example for how love can change or affect a person internally, the conflict it creates, and the thoughts that may go through someone's mind when they're truly in love.My favorite line/quote is...
This was sooo clever! I love anything that has a play-on-words and you did a great job of that here! I enjoyed how you also compared the differences between loving someone and 'liking' someone. It was a great addition!
Some things I would change are...
I only have one suggestion, but it could be intentional or a play-on-words, so disregard this if it was indeed intentional. In the third to last line, you said,
So, here, I had to reread it a couple times. Nothing major, I just think that maybe you meant to type 'she' instead of 'her'? Although, after rereading a third time, I noticed that the next line says 'judges him so maybe that was just a clever play on words? Just thought it was worth pointing out if it was meant to be 'she'.
Overall...
This was a great poem! You captured every element that I look for in a good poem. Happy Writing! <3With Love,
Leya
Thank you for the kind words Leya! I am happy to see that you loved my poem. I actually wrote this amidst the time i had some real feelings for someone, so this poem is dear to me.
As for your suggestion of she instead of her, I was kind of going for the effect of repetition of consonant 'h', but I guess it must be sticking out. What you think should I change it?%uD83E%uDDD0
And by the way, i also did feel a bit proud of myself when I wrote the line you liked the most, its my favorite one too%uD83D%uDE0A
