In Collection Of Poems

I remember summer's past

The sun held memories that will last

Droplets of the golden dew

Shining on my jet black shoes

I can hear my grandpa's voice

Soft and deep, a gentle white noise

The last time I would ever see him

Smiling, but holding onto the brim

He was cheerful nonetheless

Never, ever in distress

I remember running free

In the meadow, with flying bees

My long dark hair, waving in the breeze

Marble blue skies and flying geese

I remember getting home late

My dad opening the gate

Snow crunching beneath my feet

Cold, but fluffy, a silk white sheet

I remember the leaves in fall

I can't ever forget; I never shall

I remember the fire gold trees

Its rustling leaves never cease

There are many memories I hold

Hot, warm, cool and cold

I swear I won't forget season's past

I just wish that I could go back.

Hello cats!!!!

This is probably my last review for the night because I'm tired TvT
literally expect the worst review possible

I really like how this rhymed! I forgot that we used to do poems like this! I think that this type of poetry is so cute! I should try it again sometime...

This poem really seems so cozy! It's like a memory that's still warm but almost like it's like becoming distant and colder if that makes any sense?

But yes I loved this so much and I'm fricking bummed so goodnight!!!

Hopefully this counts as a review but probably not...

oh yeah did i tell you? I have sockz tea~~~~

Love,
Hop

Ohhh this one gave me such cozy feelings! Right from the start, the rhythm feels like you’re flipping through a photo album in verse—each stanza is a snapshot of a different season, and it’s so cinematic. I love how you tied memory to the elements: dew shining on shoes, snow crunching, fire-gold trees. It makes the nostalgia tangible, almost like you can taste and touch it.

The grandpa moment was especially moving. The line “Soft and deep, a gentle white noise” is such a beautiful description of a voice—it makes him feel alive in the poem, even as we know it’s the “last time.” That’s such a tender way to honor him.

Structurally, I really liked how the seasons roll by like turning pages. You start with summer, drift into fall, winter, then circle back to the bigger idea of “memories hot, warm, cool and cold.” That refrain ties the whole thing together neatly. If anything, I’d almost love to see a spring moment too—since the other three are here, it would complete the cycle (but also, leaving it out makes me wonder if that absence is intentional, which is cool in itself).

The ending line “I just wish that I could go back” hits with a simple ache—it doesn’t overcomplicate, it just admits that longing in a straightforward way. And honestly, that makes it powerful. The whole poem carries this gentle mix of warmth and melancholy, like a perfect definition of nostalgia itself.

Oh yeah!! I forgot spring ToT
Oh well...
THANKS FOR UR REVIEW!!! thank u for taking the time to write this :)

Hello!!!!! Milesperhour here, to review another one of your poems!!! (yeah I'm reviewing two in an hour, I have too much time on my hands lol)

First of all, the description in this piece is exceptional, my favorite line is definitely "Droplets of the golden dew, shining on my jet black shoes," it's just such a beautiful way of describing the morning dew, and it works really well for this nostalgic poem. The poem overall does a good job of feeling like a memory, and you can really see the speaker reminiscing on their childhood.

Once criticism I would have is the line "smiling, but holding onto the brim." While I understand what you were going for, maybe use a different word choice than "brim" so it's more clear that it's metaphorical and not literal. The line "In the meadow, with flying bees" is also a bit awkward, bees by default have the ability to fly. Same for the flying geese, but that could technically stay bc sometimes you do see geese on the ground.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Thanks for ur review!!! You are doing great and thanks for the tips I will keep that in mind

CATSRULETHEWORLD387~
Hi! This is such a good work, I would love to review it!!
Overall, it reminds me of looking into a snow globe, but instead of looking at memories reliving them. This happens to me too, where it feels like I am transported into a scene. The sensory details in this poem make it very easy for the reader to feel like he/she has been transported to the scene too. For example, the strong opening with
"Droplets of the golden dew
Shining on my jet black shoes"
I loved this line! Additionally, when you introduce the grandpa and his voice, it makes an emotional connection to the narrator.
You also add more sensory details with
"In the meadow, with flying bees
My long dark hair, waving in the breeze
Marble blue skies and flying geese"
It feels cinematic the way you've written this! I could see, even smell the scene happening. I love how you describe fall at the end, with "fire golden trees, its rustling leaves never cease."
Overall, the poem is emotional and very well written. I love the ending especially:
"I swear I won't forget season's past
I just wish that I could go back."
It is very relatable, and you did a great job capturing the whole scene!

Thanks so much for your awesome review!!! I really appreciate your feedback!!!

Hey, CATS! This is Alex, here to review your poetry for a change. (Yeah I'm behind on Umber Veil but currently busy a novel idea of my own for this short story weekend, as you know. After I complete it, I'll try to squeeze it in as soon as I can. Let's dive right in!

Loved the simple and endearing title. Who can say know to mesmerising visuals of someone's cherished memories? Certainly not me.

I remember summer's past
The sun held memories that will last

Sun imagery! Reminds of the summer poetry contest I participated in. Certainly resurfaces pleasant memories. Nothing is more heartwarming than the sun afterall! Personally, I think the phrasing can be altered this way so as to make it more natural and apt -

I remember the (warm) summers of the past
How the sun held memories that still last

The word between the parenthesis is completely optional, just how I'd have written it as a random preference.

Droplets of the golden dew
Shining on my jet black shoes

The imagination is so vivid here! It feels incredibly original and pulls the reader in the narrative.

Soft and deep, a little noise

Hmm.. sounds odd. How about 'like white noise' instead?

Holding onto the brim

Merely for the sake of structure, here's s suggested addition-

Till the end, the held onto the brim

Never, never in distress

I feel that if you replace the second never with 'ever', it has a more melodious ring to it. Nothing objectively wrong with repetition though, as it does enhance impact.

I remember running free

Again, you can use 'carefree' in place of 'free' to stick to a constant verse length. But a really non binding advice! Because again, this works pretty perfectly as well.

Long dark hair, waving in the breeze

Tricky, I'm genuinely torn on this one. I believe this has a variant whithout the punctuation. I'll just give you the option and leave the choice to you as both forms look equally good to me-

My long dark hair waving in the breeze

Marble blue skies and flying geese

The intricate detailing! It's such a beautiful colour, great illustration.

Snow crunching beneath my feet
Cold, but fluffy, a silk white sheet

Effortlessly deep, that's not easy to achieve! I feel like it's a contrast to the summer, as we now see snow. It very subtly points towards the timelessness of these treasured memories, how you have one going the year around. It's like an endless loop of old photographs.

I remember the leaves in fall
I won't forget; I never shall

Again, I see seasons are an inherent theme here, you really have some memories associated with each of them. I think 'won't' should be replaced by 'can't ever', but only because I think it sounds better and offers a diversity of implied meaning of the somewhat verbs. Won't and shan't are much too similiar I belive, while cannot will signify you cannot forget them even if you tried, like it's consciously not possible. But in the end, completely your call to make!

I remember the fire gold trees

Oh wow, that's a bold metaphor! Fires usually burn trees but here the autumn shade of leaves has been indirectly compared to fire, how very fascinating and artistic. If you weren't going for it though, I think 'crimson' makes for a fine alternative to fire. But I really like this current version, it's so more more innovative.

Its few leaves rustling, never seized

I believe you couldn't word what you exactly wanted to. Here, let me help-

Its rustling leaves never cease

I think making it concise makes it more powerful, feel free to use it or disagree!

Hot, warm, cool, cold

I'd add an 'and' between cool and cold for grammar's sake.

I will never forget season's past
I just wish that I could go back.

The ending is definitely uncooked right now. It's a little too early for me to suggest something though. Sorry you're on your own on this one, I've really got nothing.

Overall, it was a very lovely read. Your memories take the reader to a delightful journey through the seasons. The imagery and metaphors absolutely fantastic. The rhymes are very gentle and soothing. I recall you mentioning about the grandfather before, so that part called out to me. The poem is rough around the edges but nothing a few rounds of editing won't fix. The ending couplet was the only really flaw I could find. An endearing read, it was my pleasure reviewing this. Hope to read more from you soon.

OMG Thanks so much Alex! I really loved the suggestions; I will fix it and you can come back and read it once I'm done lol
I really loved your review~cute alex...

Hello, I'm here to leave a review. Let's get right to it!

I always like to see rhymed poetry. Kudos to you for putting your effort into creating this kind of work. I know from experience that it can be hard to find just the right words sometimes.

The title captures the theme of the poem as a whole, even though I don't believe the word "nostalgia" appears in the body of the poem. I always think this is kind of cool. It makes the reader think a little bit about how it all ties together. In cases like this, it's pretty obvious what the connection is, but other times it takes a little more brain work.

This poem seems to be a blend of experiences that are personal and unique to the narrator, and other elements that might be more relatable to the general reader. For example, the narrator mentions their grandpa. Not every reader might relate to this, but then again, there are other things like sensory descriptions of seasons and weather which allow the generic reader to relate more. I think lots of times we write the personal aspects of poetry for ourselves, but since you have some of both personal and general elements, I think a regular reader can appreciate what you've written.

Something I have to work on a lot, and which I often mention to other poetry writers, is mastery of rhythm and meter. I don't personally think they always have to be extremely perfect, but I would recommend seeing what you can do to smooth it out. The flow is slightly clunky, but I think taking a look into rhythm and meter will help you see where you can make some simple changes to improve that.

I noticed there was one line that didn't have a rhyming line as all the others do. It is the line that says, "Down the sunkissed alleys." Your rhymes appear to come in pairs of two lines, and yet I didn't see the rhyming line for this one. Maybe you just left it out by accident. It's probably an easy fix, but I thought I'd point it out.

I always love a good description of moods and/or weather/nature, so I'd like to commend you for taking these themes in hand for this work! With a few adjustments, I think this poem can shine better. So thanks for sharing it, and keep up the good work!

Thanks so much for your review, Winny! I really appreciate all the tips, especially since I am still trying to find a good poetry format for myself lol
THANK UUU
