Part II – Temptress of the Night:

Come now, my love.

Everything will be fine.

Don’t give up...

I’ve been chasing her for a while now.

She dips through the trees, her vexing laugh finding its way to me every time.  I wondered with each step where she was taking me. I wondered if it was worth it.

For a moment, just for a moment, I gained control of my body. I stopped walking and looked behind me. My breathing had slowed, and my legs no longer ached. The paranoia that entangled me now seemed like a distant memory. I threw my eyes back to the woman, and I knew there was no point in resisting her. My mind had no thought but to find out the sweet temptress hiding under that veil.

And so, when she moved, I moved with her.

By the time the woman and I stopped walking, we reached a morbid, dilapidated building in the middle of nowhere. I had not noticed that we had exited the forest and reached an empty road. The building seemed like the only thing out here, for when I looked to my left and right, there was nothing but the road.

The woman disappeared into the building. I followed closely after, ignoring the broken stairs, the cracks in the walls, or the cobwebs at the corner of the ceiling. I kept my eyes on her. My beautiful. My temptress.

There were people in the building. It was dimly lit, and smelt strongly of cigarettes and alcohol. There was a stage in the room with one steel pole in the middle. On it was a naked woman with a misshapen face. She had one eye on her forehead, and another on her chin. Her nose was where her ears were supposed to be, and her tongue, as long as a serpent, was located at her stomach. She danced slow and seductive, and even though her face was morbid, she seemed to woo the crowd. Beside the stage was a door where the woman went in. I followed close at her heels, only to meet darkness.

The door slammed shut behind me. I twirled around, coming to my senses. I need to get out.

I have to get out.

I tried opening the door but it refused my wishes. I cannot see anything. It was dark and I was alone.

And I am scared. How could I be so stupid?

Suddenly, a dim light flickered on. I sucked in a breath and leaned against the door, taking in my surroundings. There was a queen sized bed staring straight at me, with black silk sheets and red pillows. Beside it was a black nightstand with two champagne glasses. The walls were painted black with marks that looked like animal scratches all over them.

At the other side of the bed was a black curtain. From it emerged the woman. Instead of the flowing white gown she wore earlier, this time she wore white silk lingerie. In her hand she carried red liquid in a bottle.

 I licked my lips.

And, once again, infatuation strangled me.
