Of Band-aids and bullet holes

PreviousNext

band-aids don't fix bullet holes, Love,

they just hide the oozing pain.

we've stuck so many on by now

it's hard to stop them showing

beyond our sleeves and around our collars.

~

the soul you each tore through every time you shot at me,

every time you denied yourself happiness,

is leaking between the gaps,

pooling in our shoes,

silvery grey drops in our footsteps.

~

i soak up every drop of your soul

that trickles from beneath your feet

and store it in a jar until you need it back, Hon.

it will be mine and I will love it

and cherish it like you won't

let me cherish you.

~

you don't love yourself, Darling.

it breaks my heart to see you suffering

in your self-made hell.

you will not let me enter

to try and drag you out.

permeating in misery doesn't suit you, Love.

~

the smile in your eyes can be radiant

if only you'd give it a light to shine.

i'd be that one for you, my Dear, i'd be that one for you

if only you'd let me.

~

Love, we're one and the same

hurting me is hurting you.

you're the side that takes the pain

encapsulates it and shoves the ballets through my skin

~

Darling, why can't we love ourself more?

stop loading the gun every time we look in the mirror

i love you, Hon, can't you see?

~

but you shoot at me instead

with hard words, not balls of lead.

and all my soul leaks out

through the holes you left in my chest.

you hand me the sticky plasters,

say "cover up those leaks"

but band-aids don't fix bullet holes, Love

not those you rip in me.

~

Don't really know where to begin with this, but I'll try. It's a very emotional piece, and that's what I love about it. It's also what what made it a little confusing in the beginning. You said that you loved your self, but yourself doesn't love you. At first I didn't understand how that can be since it you are the same person. But I did towards the end you wanna love yourself, you really do but all the negative thoughts keep coming back and sticking. At least that's what I got from it. Anyways loved your work! Sorry if this was a little short. Keep calm and write on!!! =^_^=

I loved this poem so much. It was beautiful!

Your use of colloquialisms was great, it really brought the poem to life. Well done. I also loved the raw feelings that went into this. I could tell you'd experienced this pain yourself, but it came across well.

I also really loved the last stanza, as it was worded beautifully.

Well done

I love it! The way you described this relationship almost killed me. Not literally, mentally. You did a very good job! Also, I felt like I knew your personality by reading this. I could tell you have a accent, and that you've experienced this pain. I really enjoyed your description, examples, and the words you used. I love it, and good luck! Have fun, and may my best wishes be with you forever. See ya!!!

Thank you! I don't really have an accent, but I have experienced this. The poem is basically non-depressed me talking to depressed me. Thank you very much for your comment.

Your welcome!

I'll format it properly when I'm on a computer ~

I should infinitely prefer a book.
