I was a chipper little girl like any kid
should've had all the confidence in the world since I knew nothing about it
right?
wrong
I had no confidence out in public or with people
my friends were more of the acquaintance type
all I had were my toys and my imagination which really wasn't that bad
Until the fateful day that my cousin took me to the bookstore
my small brown eyes had fallen on the comic book section and I had seen you
right next to the amazing spider in red and blue
a black and red mercenary who my cousin was very hesitant about
he gave me the dumbed down version of you
but that didn't change my new idolism
as I grew up I learned more about you and the more 'adult' explanation came forth
and then the day came when I learned you were getting a movie
my hero as a child was getting a movie
but I knew I'd have to wait to watch it
but I didn't think I'd have to listen to my mother berate you
trash you, destroy you, talk about you like venom
I cried inside and nearly screamed at her "YOU DON'T KNOW HIM!"
but I'm just the child, what do I know, right?
So I'll just sit in my room with my comics
my heros and villains
my sidekicks and anti-heroes
waiting for the day I can watch your movie
without the fear of listening to my mother
talk about how the Merc with the mouth is god awful
because not in my eyes
You're a mercenary, so you're going to be a bit bad yes
but in my eyes, these dark brown eyes
I see someone who helped me grow and will forever be
my Anti-hero

Okay. Just okay.
Beautiful, if not a bit fetishizing (but it is Deadpool we're talking about. If anyone should be fetishized it is him). I liked the way you described your feelings through the way you looked at a comic book - something unique and original, something you don't see a lot around here. Loved it.
Like I said - the poem was short. Short and sweet.
Shima over and out
thank you, Shima! I was hoping it didn't sound too annoying like I was 7 with a crush.
Hi there. Nieeblur here to review.
This poem for once, highlights a topic that we as a society take granted for. Maybe it was intentional, may be it wasn't. Point is we as a society, have an idealistic version of a being. And outliers are often dissed.
But the poem fails to express the feelings clearly. I mean I could see you feeling it. I just couldn't feel it myself. Maybe try emphasizing the sentiment instead of wording the sentiment.
Anti heroes can be idols too.
And I love Deadpool too.
thank you for the input! I'm not that good at writing sentiment to be honest but I hope to do better on it the future
