You see me from afar
Wave me down to pull me over.
My instincts blare at me not to.
The road is empty.
I don't like it at all.
But good girls are polite
Good girls don’t flip the bird and zoom off
Good girls see if we can help, see if you’re in trouble
So for the 67th time in my life
I choose upbringing over instinct.
I stop for you, hoping and praying
That you are actually in trouble
You get out of your car and walk up to mine
Curse my busted window, I hate opening my door
But I have to... Don't I?
I feel exposed, and keep my left hand on the wheel
My right hand gripping the door to shut it fast
In case you’re a psycho.
A round fat little man you are,
And I already know in that moment that you’re insincere
That you only want to feed your greedy eyes
I feel sick
You tell me you need a lift and I panic
Flipping fast through my mental catalogue
Of ways polite girls are allowed to say no.
You say you’re just joking
And make your true intentions known
As if deep down I wasn’t aware
You say you saw me driving by and had to talk to me
You say I’m beautiful
I could throw up on the dashboard
You must be twice my age
And I’ll bet you’re married
You ask if you can see me sometime.
I say I don’t think so, finally shutting my door
And starting my car that very second.
Curse its slow uphill start!
You are laughing with your ‘Oh come on’
As if I am being unreasonable
As if I’m crazy for being terrified of you
As if you didn’t just make me hate myself
For ignoring my instinct once again
For fear of being rude.
You will never see yourself the way I see you
You will never feel my vulnerability
As your uninvited eyes rake over me
I don’t know you, but I hate you
You’ve ruined my day
Tears obscure my vision
And I pray I don’t crash
I take the corner a bit too fast
Because I want to get away from you.
I want to get away from my stupid decision
To stop when you flagged me down.
I panic when I see a silver Jeep in my rear view
Making me think you’ve followed me.
Until I see the man in the driver’s seat is not you after all...
But it could be another version of you.
Because I have met you many times before,
Wearing different bodies.
Sometimes you’re younger, sometimes older
Sometimes in a club, sometimes at work
But your eyes are the same.
Your greedy eyes never change.

Hi there!
Quick nitpick to start with:
The repetition of the word 'my' here is more repetitive than affective. When we're reading, we see that word twice in the span of five words and we feel kind of weary. If you take out the first 'my', the line will work better. It'll also flow better without the mys to "break it up". And if it's said that tears are obscuring her vision, we know that it's her tears. Who else's tears would they be?
First off, I would like to applaud you for how you presented this subject. It's a tough subject, really, as women are always cautious around strange men. Not all men have bad intentions, but women are trained to think all men do and proceed cautiously. You really brought to life that fear and caution and dilemma between doing the right thing and doing what is right for the woman herself.
What I notice about this poem is that it has two definite characters: the man and the woman. We know that the woman is driving the car and just trying to make her way home. We know that the man is stuck on the side of the road, at the beginning, but then find out that nothing's wrong and he just wanted to try and woo her. Those are the only characters and that's the only thing we need to know. However, after reading through this multiple times, I realize that the man represents a certain type of men while the woman represents every woman. Not all men are going to put themselves out to a random woman driving down the road, but this kind of man will. I find that very interesting. And now I can imagine this same poem happening many times over with different men "playing the role" of the man. Which makes the reader feel even more uncomfortable, especially if they're a woman. There isn't just one guy out there like this; there are many. My clue to reach that conclusion came from these lines:
There is one word I notice repeated throughout the poem consistently: you. It comes in different forms, like your and you're. But all in all it's the same word, the same description. And by the time we get to the end of the poem, it becomes a strong, ruthless word with a bad annotation. Your speaker's tone changes very quickly from indecision to repulsion. She is debating whether or not to help the man and then when she does, she's disgusted. That's where the repetition of the word 'you' comes into play. It's a harmless word until he tells her exactly why he flagged her down; then it becomes an insult of sorts. As I read through this, I imagined her saying this word forcefully, spitting it out as if it had venom on it. That really enforces the subject/theme of the poem.
I have another nitpick:
Why is 'good girls' italicized? I get that you are trying to bring attention to the term, but you really don't need to. Not to mention this title isn't italicized anywhere else in the poem. You know, when you keep it normal instead of italicized, it's more effective. The readers realize that the speaker is referring to herself as a good girl. Personally, I think that's much more effective than pointing it out.
As this is a dramatic narrative, I didn't expect there to be too much imagery. I've noticed narratives have less pronounced and less intense imagery. This poem, although being a narrative, has some great imagery. The imagery is buried within the words that you choose, which is my favorite way to find imagery in a poem.
It all starts with the title, "Greedy Eyes". That's the most profound imagery in the entire poem as it is the main action in the poem. Those eyes full of greed are what makes the speaker feel the way she's feeling. Without that constant image, this poem wouldn't work as well as it does. Another great image you have here is this line:
It's something small, but it's a great image. It actually adds to the overall image of this man that the speaker runs into. The image of him being round makes it a bit comical, but also gives us a creepy image. That really adds to the overall tone of distaste towards this man.
Here's another piece of imagery hidden in there. This piece of imagery really brings across the emotion that the speaker is feeling. See if you can add some more of these "hidden gems" in there. The poem is great with how it is now, but with just that little bit more, it can be great
Overall, you've got a wonderful poem here. I applaud you for taking a tough subject and putting it into words. This really hit home for me as a woman who has seen things like this happens before. Thanks for writing it.
Keep writing!

Thanks Noelle! Your review was extremely helpful
not a review but just something that stuck out to me
did the narrator expect to find a sincere gentleman here or what? xp
anyway, great work. keep it up!
All clubs are basically Greedy Eyes central. Haha, thanks for your comment!
I just joined in. and this is the first thing I read.
)

It's super! brilliantly written! one can ACTUALLY feel the fear! it actually depicts the variety of emotions a girl feels, when a stranger, a man looks at her!
job well done buddy!
there were no grammatical mistakes at all (actually am bit of a Grammar Nazi
the words were just correctly picked!
just flawless!
The best lines according to me were::
"But it could be another version of you.
Because I have met you many times before,
Wearing different bodies.
Sometimes you’re younger, sometimes older
Sometimes in a club, sometimes at work
But your eyes are the same
Your greedy eyes never change."
great job! looking forward to more of your write ups!

It's an awesome place. You can check out my other works, would love your feedback on those! Thanks!
I'm glad you liked the first thing you read on here
Cheers
Hey!
This is really, really good; I felt the fear! I don't read pieces that grip me with emotion very often anymore, so it was not only surprising, but refreshing also! (Seems like that happens a lot on this site... there are so many wonderful writers on this site!)
I didn't notice any grammar errors, or any places where flow was disrupted. Well done!
Anyways, like I said, I felt the emotion--which is awesome, by the way--and I sort of got sucked into the poem. I couldn't stop reading, nor did I realize I was even still reading at all. t was a weird sensation!
Wonderful job, and I hope you keep writing!
Thank you Sherri! That's a wonderful compliment! My goal is to write narrative that creates immersion, so I'm glad I managed to do that for you. Feel free to check out my other works
Wow! Very well done! I felt how scared she was, and I could see the man staring at her greedily. We all know how men act mostly out of hormones, and the way people look. It's horrible. You capture this completely. I also like the parts were she chose being nice and instinct. I also like how you said:
"But it could be another version of you.
Because I have met you many times before,
Wearing different bodies.
Sometimes you’re younger, sometimes older
Sometimes in a club, sometimes at work
But your eyes are the same.
Your greedy eyes never change."
This is so very true, how it could be anyone. One can never be too cautious!
Well written my friend!
- Kamryn
Thank you! I'm glad it meant something to you. The thing is, hormones aren't an excuse. There are many perfectly decent ways to approach a girl, that don't come off as creepy. I hope you choose instinct over manners when you need to.

I guess men should learn to learn. They are sometimes so unreasonable that reason seems frightening , so greedy that greed is everything , so so so .... that you feel like just tearing them apart. Anyway lovely poem here !! And I guess a very true meaning and message is conveyed . Hope you like to write stories for what you have written would make a lovely first person account short essay !! You know, just advising . It is up to you of course!!
