Hello there,

phoenixwhisper her to review!

Ok, first off, I quite enjoyed this piece and your use of humor. I love the idea of [insert --- here] and how you used it to show common tropes in stories. It is a very creative way of showing these common themes.

There's not much negative I have to say about the piece, as overall it was very effective. A continuation of this, such as another [insert here] in another genre or concept would also be very interesting.

Great job!

Really interesting satirical piece. I love how I can actually map out any fantasy series, like Lord of the Rings, and see that it fits exactly the story here! Awesome!

This is a sort of genius. Nothing really to add in terms of critiques. It's also just the right length for it to be interesting, if it was any longer it wouldn't be as much.

All in all, a really creative and well executed idea, well done!

Hello! The title brought me here, he-he. Sometimes I write a 'don't know a title' title, so I thought that's what you did. I was far from right. And that surprised me in a good way. That is because your story was amazing.

I believe a lot of movies or stories are extremely cliche (even my own), so this really embraces that fact. It still makes it an interesting piece to read, which is beyond awesome. It's like you really didn't tell us a story but at the same time, you did.

The whole 'insert' after 'insert' was necessary for this story, so it doesn't bother me at all. I don't see the repetition, I just see a well constructed story. This is like a format for us to write in, you know? It looks like a format. Like we'll make the 'inserts' into actual sentences.

You did a great job! I loved it!

¬ Nike

Thanks :) A lot of people have said all the 'insert ... here's were kinda annoying, which I completely got. I even got annoyed! Glad you understand it. Glad you like it :)

This is very clever. I think so much about cliche-ness of stories and movies. This is so spot on and funny. I liked it a lot, although my only complaint is all the 'Insert's. It was a little distracting and repetitive. Other than that, very good!

This is a good story!

What I like about this is it can actually be USED to make a story, like a first timer making a story! I thought this was funny and I actually made a story from it and posted it on facebook! LOL! No nitpicks here! *High Five*

Favorite parts:

[Insert clever and original first sentence here.]

[Insert climax where the main character and the secondary characters begin their search for the antagonist to stop the inevitable destruction of the world here.]

[Insert major event that (finally) sends the main character on his or her adventure here.]

[Insert downfall of the antagonist and the use of the clichéd ancient magical artifact by the main character to save the world here.]

[Insert normal events that go on before the main character begins his or her adventure that are used mostly to just take up words here.]

Just LOVE this story! *Thunbs up*

Glad you enjoyed it :D I had a lot of fun writing this ^_^

Is this Lord of the Rings? ;)

I actually have not read LOTR, but if it fits, it certainly can be. Could be a lot of things :D

This was pretty funny. It seems like npwadays, and even in the yesteryears stories are written this way. I can most definitely tell you that this is how some of my stories are. However, I think there is more beauty to this piece than let out for. Although this story parodies the common events which happen in today's stories, one could argue that many of these things have been culminated because of a concept called "The Hero's Journey". It's this really fascinating concept created by Joseph Campbell. The basic jist of it is that he looked through a whole bunch of stories from around the world and saw a similar pattern within all of them, which he called this pattern the heros journey. Many of the characters experienced similar trials in the stories he read. Today, this concept can be seen with most books, I say no.matter how complicated or seemingly repetitive the plot is.

But back to your work, the reason it is funny is because a lot of the stories I read online have these exact things going on in them. I can think of a few stories I've read which start off exactly this way. I think can still be good using a repetitive concept (the heroes journey) if, and maybe only if it can creatively twist the plot (and not use this format of inserting which you've got here).

This was a great read, and sorry for ruining the joke if I did

Thanks :) And I totally understand where that came from. I wrote this when I was working (still working on it actually) a project for my English class, and one of the options you could pick for the project was the hero's journey, and I thought about that while writing this. I guess that idea came out a bit in this piece. Glad you enjoyed it! And no, the joke was not ruined :D

This is a hilarious idea of yours, and I love it! Like you said before in a reply to someone's comment, the "Insert" was VERY repetitive, and it sometimes got really annoying. But I guess that's what you needed when writing something like this, so I guess it would be fine. And I also agree with what others said below, that there are more types of stories rather than this clichéd version. But I know, you were just generalizing it.
Overall, wonderful wonderful idea. Keep Writing~

Fnump!… no, that was NOT me covering up a laugh. This is so funny! And, yeah, I think if you don't try really hard, your writing can very easily turn into that.

I...love...this! :D

However, I have to disagree with the notion that the fantasy genre is played out and that this is the only possible story arc for fantasy pieces to follow.

Either way, this made me laugh. Great job. :P

Note: This is not a review. If it were, I'd be more intensive. ;)

Thanks :) Yeah, I get what you are saying. There are many different ways a story can go. This is just one that I recognize often. Glad I could make you laugh XD

Hi! So this might not be much of a review, since this looks rather imposible to critique, but review I will try.

For one thing, why didn't you write the actual thing?! xD

For two, you used some cliches that are commonly seen, like the beginning paragraphs, where it talks about all of the stuff that takes place before the major event finally happens and sets the hero on their journey. That I have seen happen quite often, and it's not really a bad thing, if it doesn't take more thsn half the novel to reach this points.

Some parts of this seemed focused on one story/popular series where this might have happened. Can't say I can point out every single on, but it seemed more focused on one thing that general to all stories.

This was a pretty unique idea, and while I did get annoyed with the constant inserts, I feel like you did a good job with keeping this short, humorous, and basically on point as you did make a fair argument about how similar and cliche a lot of these modern stories can be. Overall, nice work with this!

Thanks :) I even got annoyed writing all the inserts XD I do see how this applies specifically to one type of story, and there are of course so many possibilities. I tried to go for humor, and I guess I did alright. :) Glad you liked it!

Sunshine here to review...

This is cool. I liked how you set this up. It kind of reminds me of something my friend wrote except he explained how he writes stories in reverse. I don't have any nitpicks, this was very cool and interesting. Good job! :) I really enjoyed this. :D keep on writing!

sometimes i'm like "I should say something quotable to make it into the quote gen" but then I feel bad because quote gen quotes are very spontaneous
