fated strings

can you see the strands
connecting our hands to
the world outside?

a wide array of colored
strings looped around
fingers and toes

i can still see the traces
left between my parents
pastel blue and orange

their relationship has
never seemed stronger,
forged in sunlight

windows thrown open,
new shades of bright sky
beckoning us outwards

an expanse lays ahead
and sparks an urge to
finally embrace you

4.20.18

winter arrived

we tiptoe from
darkened room to
sun-graced patios

our positions are
ever changing, but
our sides never align

our love slips out of
the hourglass we built,
once refined glass

feelings mixing together
to only dwindle, thin,
as the minutes stack up

cracks across the surface,
speeding up the process
of a falling broken castle

the new calendar brought
its own wave of icicles
with the onset of winter

and our shattered gazes
finally meet across the
precipice of goodbyes

keep breathing, i tell myself,
as i walk by, a storm brewing
from within, threatening release,
wetness leaking out to meet
the sidewalk below.

i hate cliches, yet here you are,
glimpse of a grin and a grimace,
catching my quick jerk as i
try to dodge your gaze.

our eyes meet in a flash,
me blinking back tears in the
frontal view of the sunlight
beaming down on your face.

i can't imagine what you see,
peering into stirred sea,
once calm ripples spinning
tidal waves in the distance.

i hear a snippet of words
meeting the horizon laid
out between two entities,
but i turn away, letting
the sun rise once again.

Spoiler! :
wrote this 4/13, but I forgot XD

parts of you dangle before me,
teasing, tantalizing me to
want to reach out and
throw myself over the ledge
just for a taste, a touch

i can’t stop my fingers from
stretching out, helpless to
your magic and the exchange
of sensations extended
from across the room to me.

vermillion kisses line the card,
caressing the envelope as
they loop to meet the edge.

if i press my finger tip,
i can curb my yearning
for your lovely imprints

recalling comes in flashes,
some quick with snapshots,
with others lingering like
sitting for a portrait.

and i'll never forget the
picture you made that day,
flowers covering up the
pain that filled our lives.

i still keep that photograph,
printed in a simpler time,
corners starting to furl,
but still revealing the
hidden beauty we shared.

zip off to a new land
as the pictures transition
into hazy mirages of
lost friends and hopes.

i find myself clutching
at these old pages,
weary from their trials
but joyful in their roles.

such fond memories
flown on summer days,
roses and dandelions
richly decorated kites.

jump off a cliff to
spring board away,
water bursting up
to meet me smiling.

petals decorate our front lawn
smile wide for the flowers to
stain our teeth, milky whites bleeding
into crimson waves, drop down to
mix with a swirling pool of colors.

i can still taste their fragrance,
that pungent linger of roses that
pierce my skin as i peruse the
bushes by my feet.

when i was little, i skipped around
whole rings of thorns. the pinpricks
stayed imbedded for years. i miss
those faded marks.

now i pull off leaves to meet my skin,
pale with brown dots freckles across.
the plants emit a little residue to
rub between my fingers.

i still cling to that albatross as the wind
flings that beloved scent away.

difficulty is dragging me down
reckless thoughts flicker as
i change channels.

eventually, i give in to
the static screen, since
steady sound seems better

a more refined sea for me
to sink into when my brain
flares to attention.

the bottom dives farther
every time i return.

there on her desk lays
a shard of a love once felt
even on long plane flights
to seperate countries.

she cuts her fingers on
the raised cracks
the drops bleed
into her desperate
blinked back tears,
blurry image,
her vision impaired

a once clear love
now lost to a girl
who can’t see
life after ruin

Spoiler! :
Whoops, forgot about these two

that moment you laid back, radiance
emitted from your gaping smile.
i hear bells and light, trill chimes as
your laughter shows the evident relief
at finally signing that delicate,
single sheet of paper, protected
by the office walls to the fierce wind.

we've been trapped in this once
beckoning structure of a warm home,
light shining inside on the walls and
windows reflecting the nice, friendly
as ever sun, the only star available to
see during the cheerful day time.

and with your signature on that
loose-leafed document that
produced a beacon of promise
that answered our hopes and dreams
and wishes and leave us satisfied
that we can finally turn the page
and leave our rued home on the back.

on days that i'm sinking
further downwards,
i crawl into my bed
to hide as a mineral
does away from those
who seek out their value

it's fun to pretend and
picture another life, one
without the anchors
twisting around my throat,
choking, bearing, forcing
me to bend forward.
