Spoiler! :
Huge congrats on making it to 100+ poems lehmanf; you've got a lot of stuff here to cultivate after NaPo! :) And I know you were talking about how you had re-used some themes, but just going through a few pages here it looks like you've actually got quite a bit of thematic variety. It can be really fun to push your self out of a poetic box and write something totally out of what you usually do and I think in particular I enjoy some of these where you try with different formatting or throw in some light rhyme into it. Good luck for the rest of the month, with a week to go I'm very curious how many poems you'll end up with! <3

Happy NaPo and Happy Poeting!
you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return

Spoiler! :
Thank you for the comment Lliyah!

I'll have quite a bit to work with, I've been trying to start a poetry journal or something of the sort just for rewriting some poems. (I'm just not much sure which poems I should start with.) I think recently after I "complained" about that I've really been trying to jazz things up, try to test myself. Poem no. 127 was far... far... far from my comfort zones.

I think I'll be up to 150 poems but I might cut a little shorter to start commenting on threads, considering how much time I spend on Randomosity I could just do that instead.

I'll definitely be entering a piece for your competition.

Have a fantastic and hopefully poem-filled day!

Ecosystems

Villagers gather
Beneath the umbrella of the Boabab
In rememberance of a rooted anger
Slowly uprooted and twisted from the earth
Leaves picked off vigourously
Trunks left to die
A screaming anger that broods through the silence
Like a stampede of antelope roaring
Recounting members lost
Wrought bloodily to the ground by the beasts

Elephants graze the grass they grew
Trumpeting regally like a call to charge
Feet padding into their dirt
Leaving holes like craters
Destroying crops
Destroying livestock
Destroying wealth
Destroying food
And precious homes caked with memories
Destroying lives
Like greedy dragons plummaging the grasslands

Past The Streetlights

I stare at a map
Imagine the globe floating in space
Between the stars and comets that brandish the night sky
The twinkling lights of a city shattering the darkness
Imagine a map blooming outwards like a flower rapidly
The trees sporting the forests
Antelope grazing the grassland
Wind climbing mountainsides
Volcanoes spitting molten rock like roses spurting nectar
Imagine that map stuck on a wall
Places pinned up
Stars captured and exploding
Supernovas rocketing into dust
Clouds and nebulas condensing and raining in mighty tirades
The earth still at night
Imagine the map on my door
A lifetime of journeys awaits

A Streetlight Explodes

A streetlight

Stumbles on
Tumbling like a lost
Romantic, imaging the stars
Exploding in
Envy of your sight
Terror chasing madness, but your
Light will always guide me home
Imagine a horse cavorting
Grass nestling under its
Hooves
The world seems alive

Equestrian of light, you stand upon the
Xenolith of life, your great antlers are like the God's
Prayers entertwined in
Lithe ivory rosettes, may you race beneath the
Ocean's mighty waves
Pounce forward like a guardian and protector
Equestrian of light, may you always shine bright and never like a
Streetlight explode and scatter into the night

A Pool Dark And Tired

Watch
The night
Disappear under the slatch

Of the Cloudy Moon's sight
Stolen and wrought
With misery and the quenching of stars bright

Heart broken, every argument fought
Every glimmer and glow
Sought

So as to watch the final the star's flow
Through the midnight sky
Like a white pool rippling at the passage of a dhow

I gaze up once more to watch a fading shadows cry
The last light in the darkness left to die

He Walked Through Mountains

We walk across a sandless beach
We climb upon a springless mountain
We swim through a saltless sea
I've got a shout for those tears

We loose the moorings
Cast the masts
Set the ship into a
Spinning whirlpool of stars

Don't despair
A hand wipes away your tears
Don't weep
I've got a shout for those tears

Don't let life row you away
Don't let anger imprison you
Don't throw your sorrow at his door
Your cannons still shatter the galaxy's walls

Climb the riggings
And sport the wheel
Don't cry in grief
I've got a shout for those tears

Bluebirds In The Rain

The Sun shines like a chariot drawn across the heavens above
The sky bright and blue shimmers as birds fly through
Clouds of white and stark little rosettes of light

But amid the peace a cackle fumes
And the sunlight blooms a gloomy grey
As big thunderheads tirade into the light's hallways

Like a hissing serpent lightning forks across the heavens
And a single teardrop falls
A glimmering raindrop plops

A child cries
A cloud shivers and shouts a mighty whisper

"Teardrop, will you fall forevermore?
Or will you be excited by the coming of the lightning?"

"Teardrop, will you come and find me?
Or will you stay in hiding till your grasp is sliding?"

"Teardrop falling on the window, will you show me how to find a rainbow?
Or will I keep crying?"

A gumdrop strewn from a packet
A hailstone freezing inside layers of dusty water
A happy child stares at

The bear's demise
An old hag tumbling through the thundering skies

"Hailstone, will you always hurt me?
Or will you come and find me, where could I be hiding?"

"Hailstone falling on my rooftop, will you always frighten me?
Or will you come find me where I'm crying?"

"Hailstone, will you always hit the window, will you shatter like a widow?
Or will you ever trill like a bird waiting for its mother?"

Crawling through the window
The waterdrop is coming
Flower, keeper of your petals, cupping tiny ponds

Will a teardrop ever slip out
Don't let the blackbirds sip at what you've brought her

"Waterdrop, will you always lie still?
Or will you come gliding down a thorny rose stalk?"

"Waterdrop from far above, have you hit the sill yet?
Or are you sliding down the glass maw uninviting?"

"Waterdrop, have you seen how your brothers plop?
Or are you the one watching how they pollinate the crop?"

Will you come out to play
Then watch me fly away

Forget about the rain.
Soon it'll be a sunny day.

Easter

This Easter Sunday
Songs of rejoice sound hollow
"Jesus is alive."

Monster

Sick turns trill the bluebirds
Aching burns bite the blackbirds

Leer at me all day
I won't look away
I won't cry for the sins of yesterday

Just watch me go

I don't care for birds no more
I don't care for the lore

Beasts are dangerous
They don't care for us
They aren't worth a worrying cuss

Little girl, look away

Life Isn't A Game

Silent night
Stars still shimmer in the bright
White light
Morning call
Wake before the Sun's noon fall
Stand beneath the tree tall
And listen for birds and buck
And hope with all your luck
That the sound of the truck
Won't scare them away
Wander through the day
Watching as they lay
Mother to calf, calf to male
No longer contained by glass or a rail
Just set the ship and sail
Bows rippling the black sky
Far above the glimmer high
Remember the time is nigh
Don't forget, every day is a sacrifice
Not a roll of the dice
But something precise
Something thought over

Die Now, Die Later

The house is quiet
Too quiet for my liking
My cat is silent
Not even purring, not even snoring
Too silent for my liking
My stomach grumbles and begs for food
Too loud for my liking
Stomach pains softly
Too constant for my liking
And I imagine
My parents in the quiet
My parents in the silence of a waiting room
And somewhere
Somewhere down the hall
Somewhere behind a door
They grasp a worm as if a big snake
And haul it out from my stomach
Set it down, chop off its head
My parents pray
Please don't be dead, please don't be dead
And I wonder why they wouldn't want the worm to die

Katie

Kind and sweet
Anxious, a little
True heart, true love
Imagine
Everything worked out like that

Enthralled

Sometimes happiness fills our heart
Sometimes happiness is just a smile
Sometimes happiness is a handshake
A hug
A kiss
Sometimes happiness is just love
All the love in the world is just happiness
The twinkle is my eye is hope
Isn’t hope just a wishing for kindness
Isn’t kindness just the sharing of love
Isn’t love just happiness

So be happy
Love is more important than sorrow
