I haven't done a contest before, but I really think that this part of the Young Writers Society should be used a bit more. So with out further a-do, The Prompts Contest!
How does it work?
Simple. You post here that you want to participate. I will PM you a list of five prompts. These prompts could be anything from a word, to a sentence that has to be included, or even dialogue. objects that need to be used will have no quotation marks, sentences you must use will have single quotation marks and dialogue will have double quotation marks.
Example (not to be used in contest...): a banana, "What do you mean?", telephone, blueberries, 'The glass went everywhere.'
You need to then write a short story that contains all five elements you received. Everybody will receive different prompts. You can write in any genre you would like, but it needs to be in short story form. Post a link to the story here!
Are there any rules?
Yes, yes of course!
1. You must use all of the prompts I give you. Please use the prompts word for word if I give you a sentence or dialogue.
2. You may write in any genre, but it must be in short story form. Please nothing R-rated and please steer clear of profanity. If you feel the need to use it, just use ****.
3. Your story has to be in between 600 and 3500 words.
4. Use proper grammar at all times.
5. Have fun writing.
Are there Prizes?
Uh-huh. What kind of weirdo do you think I am, running a contest with no prizes?
