When searching the literary database, there are a couple specific phrases that you can use to make the search better.

Works by a specific user: by <user>
Works by a specific user in a specific area: by <user> in <area>

For example, to pull up all literary works by Snoink in Poetry, you'd search for:
by Snoink in Poetry

Note that it's not possible to restrict it further by genre.

Caveat
The search is not a replacement for the sorters. For instance, if you wanted to find science fiction poetry, the search would fail miserably. Instead, use the sorters to narrow down the literary area.

Don't aim at success--the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one's dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself.
— Viktor E. Frankl
