So I'm leaving on February the 28th to serve a mission for my church. Therefore, I will not be online until around March 2009. I'll miss YWS, but you'll know when I get back!
"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly." ~ Richard Bach
Right when you get back to the YWS you leave again? Hmph!
Well, have fun anyway. I've had two friends do similar things with their churches, and they have always found it very enjoyable and enlightening. I know the eight months I was overseas and away from home, it was very eye-opening and worthwhile. Of course, your mission will not be like my mission, but all the same, the world is wide and long, and there are millions of ways to get where you're going--God will lead you home.
"If I have not seen as far as others, it is because giants were standing on my shoulders." -Hal Abelson
Wow, 2 years, eh? Thats a long mission. My freinds ex-boyfriend (would be fiance, if she were mormon, but you know how things are) went on one of those and said that they werent allowed like, any contact with the outside world (music, phone, computer/internet, etc) except to call their moms on Mothers Day and her birthday.
I could never do that, and so for that, if for nothing else, I am humbled and dedicated to you and your faith. (dedicated is probably the wrong word, as I don't plan on converting, but meh) Godspeed.
And as you prepare for your departure, here are the wise words of mr. Tokein, whose words on travelling have always struck a chord wiht me:
"All the glitters is not always gold, and not all that wander are lost"
"He who takes a life...it is as if he has destroyed an entire world....but he who saves one life, it is as if he has saved the world entire" Talmud Sanhedrin 4:5
