Fiction for Thought

Sunday of the YWS'tival was "Post your Points Away" day and it caused the emergence of some pretty fun pieces inspired by flash fiction prompts in chat!

The Knight's Quest by zephion is a fun take on the old cliché of a knight saving a dragon- yum! But this is quirky and original and a really fun read.

Doctors and Pirates by beckiw is just what we would expect of such an eccentric long standing member, inspired by another prompt from chat!

What's brilliant about these two pieces, as long as all the other pieces submitted for the flash fiction prompts is that they're only five hundred words and are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

We'll be looking for more fun fiction tomorrow, with poetry coming later in the week as the Poetry Crew take over for their portion of the YWS'tival.

Stella, over and out!

Share the Love
This month of love, hear tips and experiences from our own YWS writers about writing romance and, well, love itself!

Good evening everybody (morning to those who're in a different time zone)! Here we are in Squills' newest featurette, Share the Love, wherein we can hear from our own YWS writers about the month of hearts!

In line with our community's celebration of the YWS'tival, we have interviewed an old member of the YWS who has a say about our wonderful event!

AlfredSymon: Can I hit you up with a short interview about your YWS'tival experience?
beckiw: Err...I suppose but I only did like one thing so far xD

Alf: Well then, what did you like and why?
beck: Well as part of the Post All Your Points day I spent time in chat writing from prompts that chatters put forward, which was a lot of fun. It was nice to be actively creative with other YWSers in chat and be able to talk real time about what you are writing. At the same time I enjoyed trying to come up with creative ways to fulfill the prompts. Such as the piece I posted yesterday called Doctors and Pirates.

Alf: Wow. But how about the things you don't like, midear?
beck: That's a toughy because I love all that's going on during the YWS'tival and how everyone is brought in and just having fun. I maybe would've liked to see the Art & Photography section get some love too. So if you're reading this artsy people. Go draw some YWS'tival Fan Art! Maybe some Ninjas fighting some Pirates!

Alf: Well, would you like the YWStival to be held again next year?
beck: Yeah definitely! I think it's a great opportunity for the community of YWS to come together and fully enjoy the whole of the site and each other. Also, it's just a lot of fun and in my opinion...you can never have too much fun!

Alf: Well thank you! That's actually all! Any other messages?
beck: Knight Totoro says go forth and enjoy the festivities!
Alf: Hahaha! Good one Beck! Thank you for being today's interviewee!

With a thanks our show comes to a close today. Had fun, too? Why not share them with us? Send us a Letter now! :D

Wait for more of Share the Love at this week's Squills!
