The elf had been reading in his room when the summoning came, and the water rippled into his form out of the moat. He crossed his arms; today he was wearing a tank top and sweatpants.
"It's about time," he said. "How goes it, your majesty?"

She raised her eyebrows at 'your majesty'. Had he done some googling? "It goes fine," she said, instinctively making note of his attire. Sure he wasn't necessarily expecting this, but he also dressed like he had less than $100 in his account at any given moment. "What's the job?"

"I need you to protect something for me. It's vital that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands for the next week, and I need someone with eyes on it 24/7."

"Am I allowed to know anything about what it is?"

"Sure!" He disappeared for a moment, then reappeared with a game controller. "Right here. Is the water showing color?"

So he didn't do this often. Did he even know it would work? "Yeah."

"Nice. So this controller here is what you're gonna need to guard. Just for a week, but you can't take your eyes off. I'll have another guard so you guys can work in shifts."

"A game controller."

"Not just any game controller. Do you want the job or not?" He waggled the controller at her.

"Three wishes to stare at a game controller for a few days?" she rolled her eyes, "Sure, why not."

"Are you serious?" His eyes lit up.

"Yeah. Unless it's, like, super cursed or something."

"Okay, awesome!" He grinned widely. "When can you come over?"

"Depends on where you're at. I've got to arrange excuses and stuff."

"I'm like, two blocks away from that Starbucks. Down near that nature trail with the rock formation."
