Enide stood in front of Lex, glaring at her husband. "I hired a mage," she said. "Your sister spent a tad too much time with the diplomats, had a tad bit much to drink, and requested a healer. You see his hair, yes? Is that not the hair of a mage?"
Focusing on the blue locks, Shiruba shrunk back. "But why a human mage?" he said, voice starting to weaken.
"You know how readily gossip spreads in this court," Enide said. "I wanted to bring in someone who would garner the least attention possible. I had also grown rather concerned about the integrity of our healers, and decided not to take the risk. She is your sister, after all."
After a few seconds, Shiruba nodded. "Y-yes," he said, turning around. "Apologies. Take him to Amaya and see that she is well. We will also have to inspect our healers sometime, but after the festivities. I will ask among my advisers to find the head chef..." His voice trailed off as he walked away.
Sighing, Enide turned back and pulled Lex's hood back up. "I understand if that was frustrating," she said. "Shiruba forgets to relax sometimes. I will try to make amends later, but we must be on our way." She started walking forward again, turning down a hallway and waving for Lex to follow.
