Teenage superheroes

Orion, Viamire, Kage and 'Gonzo' were stood at one end of the Libary, next to the frozen Ninja. Viamire had shocked Mika with what she had said to Kage. Everyone knew they were going to die, supers more than anyone, but Mika had never really thought about it like that before. She would just have to be careful. She walked over and stood next to 'Gonzo'. She was just about to ask how Kage was doing when she noticed a Boy walking across the Libary towards the group.
Drawing upon the energy around her she created a barrier of electricity that encircled the group. Kage and Viamire stood, everyone posed ready for whatever could happen. Mika raised her hand ready to strike...
'Stop! I know who he is' screamed 'Gonzo'.
Everyone turned to stare ata Gonzo in shock. Mika wavered. She was using to much strength holding up the barrier. The ground suddenly rushed up to meet her. Just before she blacked out she saw Oron rush over to her while the others turned to face the newcomer.

"Nathan? When when did they let you out?"

"They sent me here last week. How about you?"

"Last month, I missed you."

"I missed you too."

'Gonzo' and Nathan quickly met eachother in an embrace. They had met in that asylum over a year ago and had quickly become friends. They had brought each other happiness and around him she was able to talk. For some reason she was able to control her powers so much better with him.

"So..." he said, "what exactly is going on?"

Kage slowly rose to his feet. "The school is under attack. We need to save our friend that was taken by the enemy." Kage's leg buckled from the pain and he fell back to the ground.

"Kage!" Viamire grabbed him by the arm and helped him to his feet. "Your leg is worse than before. You can't even stand anymore!"

"Shikashou." (Dammit) Kage wanted to help the others save Coden, but in his condition he would only become a burden. "I'll make my way to the infirmary to patch myself up. Coden's life rests in your hands now, everyone."

The little black figure ran throught the hallway, unseen and ignored by most anyone. He dodged and weaved through the stamping feet that flew through the halls, desperately trying to fulfill his given mission. He slipped through rat holes and cracks, watching for any familiar face.

It came upon a small group of students. Most all faces were recognizable by the little figure, and he ran for them as fast as the stubby legs could get him. He came upon the one named Kage, and began to yank on his pant leg.

"Hmm?"

Viamire, who was holding Kage by the arm to help him walk asked, "What is it?"

Kage looked down at his feet and saw a little black figure desperately trying to get their attention. Kage slowly bent down and grabbed the figure by the scruff of the neck. "Omoshiroi, (Interesting,) I wonder what this thing is?"

Viamire looked at it closely. "I don't know."

After getting a good look Kage noticed that the little figure looked identical to Coden. He looked to Viamire and dropped it into her hand. "That thing was sent by Coden to find help. If you follow it, it will lead you to him."

She looked back at Kage. "What makes you think that?"

Kage gave her a blank stare. "Convenient plot device?"

"Convenient what?"

"Look, we're running out of time. The ninja of my clan kill all witnesses unless they're of some use to them. If this thing was sent by him then he's in bigger danger than I can imagine." He pushed away from Viamire and carefully stood on both feet. "I'll get to the infirmary myself. You four go find Coden, but don't do anything reckless. Use extreme caution."

"Kage," Viamire protested, "your leg is broken. How are you going to get to the infirmary by yourself?"

Kage pulled two throwing knives from his waist pouch and dropped them on the ground. As soon as they hit the floor they turned into two replicas of himself. The replicas grabbed each of his arms and helped him walk.

"Once you find Coden bring him to the gym, I'll meet you there."

"The gym?" Viamire asked. "Why the gym?"

"Because that's the last place they'll be expecting to find us, now hurry."

"Right." Viamire and the others began to leave.

"Wait." Kage said before they left. He looked at Viamire and said, "Gambate." (Good luck.)

Viamire nodded and ran off, leading the others.

Mika wasn't sure what was going on. After she had come round Orion had told her that the newcomer, Nathan, was a friend and he as going to help us. They had then set off following a small shadow figure which would lead them to Coden. It all seemed to strange to Mika but she would follow the others no matter what.

"Het guys? I should put this out there right now. I know some martial arts like the style these ninja are using, so if we need to run, I could hold them off for a while." Orion said as they started to leave the library. When they left, they weren't even down the hall yet when the power turned off.
"Oh no." Viamire gasped as she looked around.

Viamire spun around quickly, trying to make out the shapes of the people near her. How many did we have again? Mika, Orion, Gonzo, Nathan... The little shadow was suddenly on her shoulder, jumping urgently. She counted. 5 people, including me...but...six shadows!

"Orion, behind you!" Viamire shouted, just as the ninja unsheathed his sword. Orion spun back and stumbled, but caught herself and managed to freeze the ninja's arms.

"Mika!" Viamire said, trying to think. "You can use electricity right? Get us some light!"

When Mika got the lights back on 'Gonzo' blinked a bit, her eyes having to re-adjust to the light. "Whoa bright."

"Does this happen a lot?" Nathan asked.

Mika kept the energy flowing into the lights as the group looked around. Viamire gasped as she looked around the corridor. Four ninjas in front and three behind. They were trapped.
'What do we do', asked Mika looking up at Viamire, 'I can't keep the lights on forever.'
Mika glanced around. Seven of them and five of us. Orion might stand a chance fighting them but the rest of us can't. Mika thought looking around in dismay, but we have got our powers.
Nathan and 'Gonzo' came closer to the group followed by Orion.
Viamire looked at each of the Ninjas inturn, determnation in her eyes.
'We fight!'

Nathan was prepared to fight but...what was happening? The room suddenly started to become really cold. No...emotions. He was scared...and when he started to get scared...it could lead to anger.
"Gonzo! I'm....I'm..." She knew what to do but they were just about to fight. What to do? The room was REALLY cold know. The rest of the people, including the ninja's were starting to notice it.
"What is that?"
"I have over active emotions and even if I only feel just a little bit scared this happens."

"Crap!" 'Gonzo' shouted and tried to push everyone out of the way. The room became ice cold and started shaking. Not knowing what else to do 'Gonzo' ran over and hugged Nathan. Slowly the ice coldness stopped and went on to much more pleasent things.

Nathan quickly pulled a pill bottle out of his pocket and swallowed three.

"Nathan you're not supposed to take three!"

"It'll last longer than two."

"Okay." They turned their attentions back to the now freaked out ninjas.

Mika stared at 'Gonzo' and Nathan. Mika didn't know what Nathan's powers were untill he had got scared and the room had started shaking. Something good had come out of it though because now all the Ninjas were looking at them with pure fear on their faces.
'Ok, i will get into as many minds as i can while you guys do wht you can' said 'Gonzo' letting go of Nathan. Mika was shocked. 'Gonzo normally stayed quiet and she never mentioned her powers. Well, that was untill Nathan came.
Viamire and Orion started to advance on two of the Ninjas. Nathan and 'Gonzo' stayed still but Mika knew 'Gonzo' was gettng ready to use her powers.
Mika lifted her hands and removed her gloves, stuffing them in her pockets. Her hands were glowing with an intense blue light as sparks of electricity bounced off.
She turned to face the nearest Ninja, smiling at the look on his face.
'Everyone ready?' Viamire wispered. She recieved a nod in reply from the group. 'Get ready...'
Viamire jumped towards the Ninjas followed by Orion. Mika lunged at the Ninja in front of her and saw 'Gonzos' face contort with concentration.
'Now!' Viamire screamed.

'Gonzo' bounced around the ninja's head. She never tried controling so many minds before, as a matter of fact she never really tried one. When her head starting hurting it didn't come slowly, it came in one fell swoop. She screamed and her knees buckled.

Nathan caught her and gently lowered her down. As much as her head hurt she had to keep trying. In one moment she lost control, her head trobbed and her heart beat uncontrolably. The ninja's heads exploded one after another leaving her with extream pain.

When they all dropped down 'Gonzo's eyes blurred and then nothing. Slowly the pain in her head receeded and she fell asleep right there.

"Odd place to fall asleep," Mika said.

"Not for her, her power drains her a lot," Nathan said as he lifted her up a bit. "I think one time she almost went into a coma because of it."
