I've never done NaPo before, and I won't have time to write much in April, but my goal is to write 5 at least this year. I'm not really a poet but recently I've been inspired...so I suppose I'll go with it. I have a vague theme of freedom and nature with a dash of magic thrown in.

1. What does the bird say?
2. Shunned
3. Half a Tail

When nest is gone and brush is burned
When trees have fallen down
What does the crow, the dove, or the jay
Say when they roost all alone?



What does the heron or lonely owl
See at night when all are in bed?
Lights and fuel and speeding cars
Where the streams of frogs and fish used to be



Long will crow and dove and jay
Wait for their home to return
When green will grow and smoke fade away
Never more to be burned
