Medicine, law, business, engineering,
these are noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life
But poetry, beauty, romance, love
these are what we stay alive for

DANCING

I see her dancing,
every night in my dreams
like a slim silhouette floating under the moon
She performed across the globe,
her blue eyes twinkling under bright lights
She moved flawlessly,
as if to paint with her legs
She never heard the claps,
as she danced in her own world
Soon her perfect body lines faded,
as she aged and aged
but in my dreams, she still dances
like she was born to
Medicine, law, business, engineering,
these are noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life
But poetry, beauty, romance, love
these are what we stay alive for
- Dead poets society

Wow, C, I love your poem! It's very descriptive and I hope to see more of them this month! c:
teen·a·ger
noun
/tee·nei·jr/
when you're too young for half the things you want to do and too old to do the other half.

Nice job, especially considering it's your first ever! Keep up the good work!
Seems like the way I feel about myself
Is shifting like ice on a stream
Nothing means much to me, life is a dream

SEAMAN

As a boy, he wondered
'what lies across the great sea?'
'The Devil' said the father,
To keep him safe on the land
He knew he would find out soon
for now he's just staring
at the perfect line where the,
blue of sky meets the blue of water

He built a ship one day,
'SAILOR' he named it, perhaps
on behalf of his own dream
He drifted across various waters
the calm ones, the still ones
the ferocious ones, the mighty ones

He never got tired,
always searching for better
The waters never let him down,
always leading to a new land
But he always liked to be
that speck of dust,
surrounded by vast blueness
For he was a different person,
when he was at sea
A more kinder one, A more jolly one
'Perhaps its best for humanity
if each does what they truly loved'

He faced many storms,
both within and outside himself
yet he always stood tall
like the cliff on the shore
Every storm has an end,
followed by bright sunshine
But the storm he faced that night,
says otherwise
He knew the sea is calling,
He smiled like never before
He never felt more loved,
and cared for in his life
Embracing the waves,
he was finally united,
with the love of his life.
Medicine, law, business, engineering,
these are noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life
But poetry, beauty, romance, love
these are what we stay alive for

Hi! I really like your second poem!

Commenting on your first one first: there's some really great imagery! Personally, I feel like 'dancing' and 'women's are a little cliche, so obviously and so often paired together in poetry, but it's alright - I like cliches!

I think my favorite part of the second one is this:
'what lies across the great sea?'
'The Devil' said the father,
To keep him safe on the land

This is sooo relatable. like. so much. parents exaggerating on danger because they don't want you to leave or grow up - so. accurate. I also really like the sea, and water in general - so this poem is extra special pour moi :D
I was eleven years old
and I'd lost my mother,
and my soul.
And the crucible
gave me you.
