Tick - Tock

As I peer over at the
slowly drifting clock.
I ponder why it moves so carefully.
Because when I'm home,
It seems to be in such a rush.
Why?
Why do you mock me with
every single tick?
And every single tock?
Each one sends a jolt into my head.
I flinch,
and clench my teeth together.
But no matter how much I beg.
It never stops.
It just keeps ticking.
"Writing is a place where you can be who you are."

Prompt by @MomoMajesty (If you were wondering the prompt was, "a childhood memory.")

Gloves and Balls

Every night out on the golf course.
When all the carts were gone.
We would grab our gloves,
and a baseball too.
And then,
we would play catch.
Each one getting a bit harder.
We would run,
jump,
but most of all.
Smile.
It was a blast.
But eventually we moved from the golf course.
Our gloves got buried in a bin.
And we haven't gone out since.

Hey MapleWay Alice here!!!

You have written some beautiful poems, including the poems- exhaustion and maybe. These two poems are so so so much relatable, and you know what, when I read this I was in the same mood, when you want to be productive but at the same time want to just lay down and do nothing, kind of a coincidence.

I really like your last poem too, it is about your childhood memory. It was awesome to read all your poems but this one is my favorite, this is phenomenal writing because it is so real and plain.

Best of luck for the rest of the month!!!

Hi, @MapleWay ! <3 Dropping a quick review over here!

Spoiler
Your poe-tree thread is such a pleasure to read through! <3 your poems each cover diverse topics, and offer a lot of food for contemplation for the reader! I love how all your emotions and thoughts are almost woven in with your descriptions, it all flows so naturally and effortlessly!

Your rhyme schemes differ in each poem, which is also quite a noticeable thing about your thread, and for me, it only added to the level of engagement in each poem! <333 I also adored your word choice in many poems, you chose very strong words and verbs for all your lines! I also noticed you tended to use a lot of repetition in your poems, which I absolutely loved, considering they added a dramatic effect each time!

My favourites from your thread must be
•Friendship is a Dandelion: the metaphor of friendship being a dandelion WAS SO PERFECT AAA <3 I deeply connected to this!
•Maybe: Maybe is such a painful and expressive word, and the constant use of it here along with the heavy themes really had me hooked in and feeling a lot <3
•If Fire and Ice Were Friends: THIS POEMMM <33 the wordplay in this was so clever, and just the thought of them talking like this was super wholesome <3
•I Want To Be Closer To You: The display of emotions were so raw and relatable, which is the strongest point here in my opinion! I couldn't help feeling for the poet, and the word choice in this poem was super vivid too <3

And I'll be signing off now! Good luck on your next poems or ventures, thank you for sharing and keep growing! <333

Filters

A way to change your perspective.
A way to change your view.
A way to change the things
you don't want to be a part of you.

Train your eyes to filter out
the bad or the forgotten.
Train your eyes to filter out
the parts that make you rotten.

And once you can complete,
this hard and enduring task.
You can live in true peace.
And in it, you can forever bask.

Pressure

No matter how much I do.
No matter how much I try.
I never seem to be satisfied.
Somehow I've put so much pressure
on myself without even knowing.
If I were to write ten poems,
I'd feel it was a waste due to
all the other stuff I could've accomplished.
If I were to get a week of work finished.
I'd feel it was a waste due to all
of the writing, I could've done.
So what should I do?
Should I try and rewrite the way
my brain thinks?
Should I force myself to think positively?
I-
I'm just not sure.
"Writing is a place where you can be who you are."

Cactus

In many ways.
I'm like a cactus.
I don't need much water.
I'm fine without a lot.
But sometimes,
When I glance over at other plants.
My soul is filled with envy.
I envy the water and attention
they're showered with.
And I wish I could have that too.
Though I feel that some of that water
would be a lost cause.
So I stare down at the dry sand beneath me.
And I smile.
I'm content.
Yes.
I'm content.

Bright

The sky,
Shines bright as day,
I tumble down the hill
I grin in never-ending glee.
Summer.

Stuck

I walk down the sidewalk,
and suddenly I hear.
A fellow passerby.
Singing into my ear.

It flows through my head.
And suddenly it's stuck.
A song about a stand.
And a little yellow duck.

I try to replace it,
to make it leave.
But it replies with a no.
So I begin to grieve.
"Writing is a place where you can be who you are."

Why?

Why?
Why is life filled with so many questions?
Why am I staring into this screen?
Why am I regretting this poem already?
Why does every line begin with why?
Why does every line end with a question?
Why can't I stop?
Why?
"Writing is a place where you can be who you are."

Finish Line

Wow.
This has been quite the journey.
It felt as if it would never end.
But as I look into the horizon.
And see the velvet finish line.
All I want to do is turn back
and rewind the time.
I want to visit all of those times.
But if I did.
I would miss out on the fun times to come.
So I guess it's time.
Time to cross the finish line.
"Writing is a place where you can be who you are."

Finished

It is now that I realize
how far I've come.
In just a single month.
And as I write this poem
I can't help but ponder.
How did this happen?
How did I get here?
"Writing is a place where you can be who you are."
