I love that last one, kind of like introvert reflections when not feeling so introverted. Relatable for me c:

I love this song
it's bouncy and bright
but the words are sad.
You love this song,
and I love
that we love it
together.

Spoiler
Eeh, whatever, it's late.

water on the window pane
trickling rivulets of rain
and on the air, a soft, sweet scent
warm earth, made damp

Twist away my paperskin
and slice me up with your sharpest knife;
I'll take hold of your eyes
and wring out the tears, until you can't see the cuts.
Sear me and scorch me
and break me down;
swallow me so
only your tears remain.

#27 or, Space Whales

Ahead, in the star-speckled void,
all blackest black and sparkling, unseen
until
one sweeping fin, glacial - no, slower,
slower than the speed of planets -
one sweeping fin arcs through space.
Rolling a single, sun-sized eye
at star systems passing by,
the leviathan of the abyss
swims on.

Spoiler

Eh. I love the idea, but I don't think this "poem" does it justice.

You guys, we are SO CLOSE to the end of April already!

#28 or, Strangers Reading on the Tube

The Cost of Living is A Tale of Love and Darkness
and in a Nutshell,
do any of us have what it takes to be Happy?

We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, broken,
shattered, into A Million Little Pieces
sparkling like flakes of ice in Winter.

You can do Small Great Things in
The Palace of Illusions,
but both Sense & Sensibility lead to
A Hundred Years of Solitude
in this City of Friends.

The Buried Giant tells me,
"You Know More Than You Think,"
but I think, and I know,
in The Remains of the Day, I'll Never Write My Memoirs.

I'll listen to Birdsong from The Eagle's Prey
before The Drought comes in the Foxglove Summer.

Spoiler
All year, I've been keeping track of the books I see strangers reading on the London Underground. I thought it might be fun to put a poem together from the titles of some of those books.

I'm leaving on a jet plane,
in the sky above the rain,
flying out there all alone,
a big adventure on my own.

I'm leaving on a jet plane;
don't worry, I'll be back again.
Just a week across the sea;
you'll hardly even start to miss me.

I wind up so caught up
in all the logistics
of getting to a place,
I forget why I was going
in the first place.

Spoiler
AND THAT's THIRTY. OH YEAH.

I'm going to do one more, so that I'll have done one or more poems every day of April, but for the official NaPoWriMo completion goal, WE ARE DONE HERE.

We've finished up this poem run
I'm glad you came - it's been such fun
But if you'll miss it, have no fear -
We'll do it all again next year!

HAPPY END OF NAPO, EVERYBODY!
I hope you had fun, even if you only wrote a few poems!

Sometimes poetry is inspired by the conversation entered into by reading other poems.
