Amy nodded sheepishly. "That'd be okay."

He was positively beaming as he gestured at the first place he wanted to show her - his bedroom.

"This is my room!" he signed. He gestured at the different things in the bedroom as he spoke, trying to get all of the important things in. "That's my bed, those are my toys, that's the picture I made for Winnie but she said I could keep, that's my dresser, that's the pajamas I forgot to put in the hamper, that's all of the constellations I've really liked when visiting other worlds!"

Amy nodded as she looked around the room and followed Kirux's gestures, glancing back at him to catch his signs. A smile slowly came upon her features.

"It's very nice," she commented. "Very cozy. It's a very nice home."

Kirux blushed at the compliment, his excited grin turning into a much shyer one. He was glad that Miss Amy liked his house; he worked very hard on keeping it nice while his mom and Winnie weren't home.

He grabbed the bundle of pajamas on the ground, dropping them off in the bathroom before returning to the hallway. He gestured for her to follow him, still very much flustered by her kind words.

Amy nodded and hopped down from the bed, following Kirux. To get a better view of the room, she shifted back into her human form, and firmly decided in her mind that she should probably stop doing that. Shifting so often, anyway. It probably was jarring for Kirux, even though he knew it was normal for her now.

"Did you build the house yourself?" Amy asked curiously.

He shook his head.

"I don't know which built my house," he signed. "I just know that Mom and Winnie lived here before I was created, and that this is the only home Winnie's ever had!"

Amy blinked, tilting her head slightly. "Oh, your family lives here too?" she asked, looking around. "Are they... here?"

He shook his head again.

"Nope!" he replied. "Mom's at work, and Winnie's at school. It's just me and you right now."

Amy let out a little laugh. "Oh, okay," she said, scratching the back of her head. "You'll probably have brought me back uh... home by then, huh? When they're back I mean?"

He gave a big nod.

"Winnie goes away to school, and sometimes Mom doesn't come home at night," he explained. "They won't be home for awhile!"

Amy nodded slowly, trying to piece together something about Kirux that just felt... different, for a full grown adult.

"Ah, okay," she said softly. "So uh... how old are you?"

He thought hard on the question, trying to figure out if he should round or go for the exact age. Rounding sounded a lot better - then he wouldn't have to figure out all of the months and days.

He proudly held out a single finger.

Amy blinked. "One..." she said, staring in confusion at his sole finger. "One... what?"

"One year old!" he clarified, keeping his finger out.

Amy's eyelids fluttered as the words went in one ear and out the other, failing to process completely. Her brows drew together in disbelief and she stared at him, her mind still working. She took a step back, looked him up and down. He wasn't a baby right? She came up close to him, sniffing him. He didn't smell like a were, or like he was a shifter. He didn't have a baby form. She jumped back again, her hand holding her chin, still in denial.

"But!" she stuttered, gesturing to him up and down with both hands, arms extended. "But you're this! You're an adult! How in the world are you only one year old? And you can talk with sign language? You can understand me? You can communicate just fine? Just? What?"
