A Game of Worlds and Chaos

"That's good." Will peeked outside the window, then stepped back hurriedly. "Oh. But I don't have wings, and that looks like a higher drop than I expected." He bit his lip nervously. "Change of plans." Will looked down at his outfit, a t-shirt and jeans. "Think I could pass for a nurse?"

Hev shook his head. “No need. If you’re comfortable, I could carry you back down.” He sighed. “Where I’m from, alis have been demoted to flying carriages.”

He shook his head fondly. “Regardless, you would be right one of my lightest loads.”

"Aww." Suddenly, Will frowned. Carriages? But there wasn't time to dwell on that right now. "If you feel up to it, then yes, do get us out of here."

Will placed a hand on the window. "You seem like a very nice window-- all clean and shiny! Would you please open up for us?" It was rather rare that buildings actually listened to Will, but to his surprise, with a quiet squeak, the window opened. Maybe the flattery had worked!

Hev frowned. “Did the window… just listen to you?” He shook his head. “Question for later.”

He gently approached Will. “How do you want to do this?”

Will blushed. "Um, I hadn't thought that far. You can carry me like a sack of potatoes, I guess? Just be careful of my head."

There was the faint sound of footsteps coming down the hallway.

Hev nodded curtly and proceeded to do exactly that, gently placing Will over his shoulder. “I would recommend holding on.”

Will held on tightly as there was a knock on the door. "Are you and your uncle done talking?"

"A-almost!" Will called.

Hev unfurled his wings and promptly jumped out of the window. He fell for a few seconds before launching into the airs, flying with practiced ease. “You doing good?”

Will gulped. Flying! They were flying. Oh gosh. His stomach swooped unsettlingly.

"Y-yeah, I'm all good," he said weakly, hoping desperately that they would land soon. Get a grip, Will! he scolded himself. Your father could fly. It's nothing to be scared of.

Hev stopped in midair, beating his wings just enough to keep them stable. “Where should we head to?”

Will tried to think. “O-okay. There’s a café nearby Dewspire. The Black Cat Café. My, er, nemesis slash friend works there in the afternoons. She’ll know what to do.” Even if she would be insufferable about it. “Just keep flying until you see a place with black cat decor in the windows!”

Hev nodded. “Will do.”

He kept flying, searching for what Will had said.

Will took a quick glance at the sky. It looked to be early afternoon still, so they'd probably have some time for a snack before Raina's shift. Although they really should get Hev's arm looked at... Well, Raina knew first aid. Will ignored the fact that basic first aid training did not usually include re-aligning a broken arm.

Soon enough, Hev spotted something that could be what Will had described. “Is that the Café?”

Will glanced at the building. Fairy lights strung across the windows, a couple of outdoor tables, a giant black cat stenciled on the door… “Yup. That’s it.”
