Over the past few months, I can't imagine how many posts, blog entries, and - worse of all - reviews have been lost due to the constant problems the Young Writers Society has been experiencing. I tried an initial fix a couple weeks ago, but it proved to be of no help. I should have responded sooner, and I apologize for not having done so.
However, problems present opportunities. They remove us from our complacency, set up new challenges, and allow us the rare privilege to set off in a new direction. And a new direction it shall be.
It is quite clear to me now that fixing the bugs that are causing the malfunctions would take up a lot of time. So instead, I'm going to be rushing development of YWS v. 5 (nicknamed "Apollo"). Originally, I had planned to begin development on it at some point in 2012 (maybe even as late as December 2012), but that's proving increasingly untenable as the malfunctions increase not only in their frequency but also in their duration.
As I'm rushing development, certain items will take priority and not everything will be ready once it goes live. That is, some sections will be available at the start and some sections will not. Nonetheless, those sections that are available will be 100% functional.
So what that means is that at the start, only forums and literary works will be available. Then as time goes on, I'll add first advanced profiles then blogs then clubs. Last but not least will be the contests area. Ideally, I'd like to wait until all this stuff was ready at the same time, but that's a luxury I don't believe YWS can afford.
At this time, I hope to have Apollo done in time for Christmas. However, by done I merely mean the forums and literary works aspect. It's likely the rest won't be done for many months.
